Some of its present top priorities include combating communicable diseases such as HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, as well as mitigating the effects of non-communicable diseases. In addition, WHO is working with other UN agencies, as well as other international organizations and national agencies in addressing issues that affect human health; these issues include healthy eating, food security, and substance abuse (Senker 19). Step Two It is no doubt that WHO is of very great importance in the world; particularly it is of great importance in coordinating and implementing health policies across the world.

Since it is an organization of international stature, it serves international community and therefore its importance is felt at the international level (Kelley 51). As has been noted, its main objective is to ensure a healthy world by coordinating and implementing health policies that are geared towards eradicating diseases and mitigating the effects of the existing diseases on the world population (Senker 23). WHO is of great importance to the international community in the sense that it aims at achieving its main objective: ensuring that the world population attains the highest possible health level.

It contributes towards this objective by focusing on a number of issues in different parts of the world. The WHO provides shape the research agenda on health and stimulates the generation of knowledge in the field of health, its translation and dissemination in order to create value and improve health standards. Also, it is of great importance to the world community as it articulates evidence-based and ethical policy options that relate to health. Besides, it provides leadership on issues that are critical to health and engages in partnerships with national governments, as well as international organizations in cases where joint action is required (Kelley 54).

Moreover, its importance in the world is evidenced by the setting of health standards and norms, as well as monitoring and promoting their implementation. In order to have a clear picture of health in the world and in particular areas, it assesses health trends and monitors the health situation. More importantly, it provides technical support in matters of health, as well as catalyzes change and builds sustainable institutional capacity in the field of health (Senker 26). It is important to note that it is important to the world community in other ways.

One of the ways is through employment; W.H.O employs a relatively large number of people from all over the world. Also, it contributes in areas such as of food security, development, and ageing which help to make the world community better. Step Three Based on this information, I think this organization fits into and interacts within the greater social structure of the world community through a way of performing a particular function. As has been noted, WHO is one of the UN agencies and is mandated with the responsibility of promoting the highest possible level of health in the world.

This is the laid down objective of the organization and it should work towards achieving it. Also, the world community expects the organization to focus mainly on this responsibility and perform it accordingly (Senker 21). Therefore, how it fits within the greater social community of the community depends on how well it performs its responsibility. The community should be able to see that this organization is working towards achieving its set mandate. In respect to how it interacts within the greater social structure of the community, WHO does not function in a vacuum but rather with relevant stakeholders and the general public.

In order to achieve effective and
