Download file to see previous pages... Social classes of UK are generally divided into three main classes. Those are upper class group, middle class group and lower class group. Each group may be further subdivided into various smaller social classes. Upper class denotes to the citizens who possess high wealth and prosperity than the middle and lower class. Middle class groups are normally spread all over the nation and the lower classes are that working class, who normally less talented peoples. So they achieve only less than the average income of UK. According to Marieke K. de Mooij, Marieke de Mooij in his book called “Consumer Behavior and Culture: Consequences for Global Marketing and Advertising” (Mooij et al. 2010, p. 98) talks about the various methods to determine social class of UK. According to him Upper class group includes the peoples such as higher- managerial, senior civil servant and professional persons. Middle class groups include principle administrator’s central and local government or middle managers. Lower class groups are working class groups. This type of classification can be extremely useful for identify their different habits. But not necessarily all utilization, because some working class citizens may have more disposable revenue or income than higher social class groups. In UK in the year of 1949, 43% of the people said that they are occupied in the working class. In 1989, 67% of the peoples are said the same. “When the people classify themselves to specific class categories, they may assume a class position that may be different from the position others would ascribe them” (Mooij 2011, p. 98). According to the article called “Health and Social Class” published in the Journal, Patient.co.uk (Knott 2011) says that, there has always been a connection among health and social class and, regardless of the welfare state and the development in health in all parts of societies over the years, this inconsistency remains. This connection applies to every facets of health, consisting of expectation of maternal mortality, life, baby and general stage of health. Health services available to the social class of UK are different from each other. Private hospital of the UK are normally charging high fees for the patients and also at the same time, this type of hospital offers extremely high facilities for the healthcare service. It is not possible for the lower class peoples to consult the private hospital. They normally go for the government hospital for the treatment. “Social class is a complex issue that may involve status, wealth, culture, background and employment. The relationship between class and ill health is not simple. There are a number of different influences on health, some of which include social class. This is demonstrated by multilevel analysis which shows health inequalities even between households living in the same street” (Health and Social Class 2011). The relationship among social class and health inequalities is apparent from simple study. They influence not just adults but kids too.
