Section Three: Race as Doing Issues such as assimilation models, in addition to pluralism, often affect the notion about race and ethnicity being about action and doing. Considering that race along with ethnicity represent products that result from human actions, society continues to witness models such as assimilation as well as pluralism. Assimilation models comprise of scenarios whereby people with similar characteristics linking them to specific immigrant member groups are considered for various reasons. Actions and doings contribute to the long term effects of institutionalized discrimination especially when they comprise unjust in addition to discriminatory mistreatment. The modern society needs to embrace a culture whereby actions and doings of people support the idea of people making conscious decisions in relation to discrimination. With more focus diverted towards everyday operations, it is easier to note that race and ethnicity represent an influential impact on the organization of society as they play important roles in facilitating violence across the globe. Categorization such as “foreign” and “other” are common actions in which the media has played a part in influencing categorization in the modern society. Abolishing such negative processes associated with “doing race” in different forms of media is an indication that this problem may persist for longer than it is anticipated. Use of various modes of categorization such as “foreign” represent philosophical ways that action and did play a part in the existence of individual discrimination. Learning institutions are among some of the leading sectors that incorporate modes of categorization that align with individual discrimination. “Doing race” is a negative process because it has an interruptive impact on the ability of people to implement systems that surpass any kinds of variations that emerge because of structural discrimination. Contemporary society has introduced interpretive frames that contribute to a celebration of certain ethnic groups over others because of the amounting privileges associated with certain races. Race builds up specific attributes from organic alongside ecological variables, which makes it in excess of a socially developed eccentricity.
