Research and Advocacy Introduction Arguably, every learning institution that has its population with a large portion of young children must have a fulltime qualified and registered nurse. Such is based on the high calling need for a fulltime, qualified and registered nurse in learning institutions with young children. In agreement with Miller(2016), the need for a nurse in a school will revolve from the aspect that, whenever a child gets sick when within the school, he or she gets to the school nurse in order to get medical attention. Worth noting is that young children are at a high rate of getting sick as well as health threats such injuries. For instance, ever since in the 1980s, close to 9% of schools children have been at the risk of asthma, a condition that is has been a major cause for the children missing school (Miller, 2016). Besides, Miller (2016) brings to light that, 40% of young children will be at the risk of health threats such as injuries as they are participating in various games. Even with the high possibility of the children to health injuries and sickness, seconding Miller (2016), recently, almost 50%of the schools have neglected to employ fulltime qualified and registered nurse. In such schools, the young children are hence at a more risk rate since, even after incidences such as injuries and sickness, they will not get immediate medical attention, and in case they get, since it will be offered by an unqualified nurse, such will account for young children receiving poor quality medical services. As such, in the case it is made mandatory for every school to have a fulltime qualified and registered nurse, such would help in offering young children effective, timely and quality medical attention in case of sickness or injuries whenever they are within the school. There have been local as well as global efforts that have been devoted in ensuring full implementation of the contextual young children advocacy issue- the mandatory presence of a fulltime, qualified and registered nurse in all schools with young children. Some of these efforts include campaigns towards the implementation of the issue, invitation of organized workshops to educate on the benefits of implementing the issue as well as the presence of regulation, policies and penalties that requires all the schools to implement the issue. Worth noting is that most of the pre-mentioned efforts among others have been propelled by several organizations. A major exemplary organization is the National Association of School Nurses. The organization is advocating for the contextual issues through various ways. Such includes formation and provision of federal legislation towards the issue, the presence of National school nurse day which enlightens on the concept and importance of the issue as well as provision of professional practice documents that educates and guides on the contextual issue. Mainly, the organization embraces all the above-mentioned ways to educate as well as inform schools, their managers, parents and other educational stakeholders on the need to ensure that the schools with younger children have a fulltime, qualified and registered nurse. Personally, a significant initiative that I would further the contextual issue is the availing and preparing a national school nurse open day. The day will be based on the theme of calling for the patient health all day long that accounts for the presence of a fulltime, qualified and registered nurse. During the open day, invitations will be to all schools, younger children, parents, childhood education stakeholders, government representatives as well as various organizations and individuals volunteering to sponsor the idea and practice. The initiative will have two measurable goals in the next six months. These will include an increment in the number of recorded schools which have embraced having a fulltime registered nurse as well as a reduction in the number of reported cases relating to younger children taken to the hospital to seek medical condition for non-complicated conditions. A major roadblock that I anticipate for the contextual initiative is lack of adequate financial resources in school to support the employment of the full-time, qualified and registered nurse. I will overcome such through encouraging the presence of more sponsors as well as financial support from the government. Summary Notably, when delivering my communication regarding my initiative on the contextual issue and topic to stakeholders, I had an awesome experience. Such is based on the fact that, most of the aspects worked well. Some of the various things that worked well include, easier communication with a large portion of the stakeholders that I encountered. Besides, a great portion of the stakeholders warmly welcomed the initiative, and as a result, they did pledge to help ensure that they offer unlimited support towards ensuring the success of the initiative. Based on personal perception, and through experience, I hold on the belief that to better communicate on the issue, there are two major things that I would have done differently. To start with, I would have used videos during presentation, which would feature an example of two young children, one who gets injured and another sick, and since there lacks a full-time registered nurse in the school for both children, as the injured child is rushed to the hospital, he bleeds so much turning anemic and later losing his life. Such a video would help in communicating the urgent need for a full-time, qualified and registered nurse in schools with younger children population. Besides the second way is using three paged pamphlet which has images/pictures for illustration accompanied by text information. The pamphlet will embrace comparing injured students within two scenarios- when he gets to the school clinic and lacks a full-time nurse and the other where there the young child gets to the clinic and meets a fulltime nurse. The pamphlet will target mainly comparing the outcome. The pamphlet will bring to reality in terms the two different situations that young children will be when at school after an injury or being sick. Mainly, I acquired two types of responses from the individuals to whom I delivered communication. The first type was a congratulation response, which the reasoning behind being laid on the impact of my idea to the health safeties of the young children. The second type was a correctional response. Here the response took the lane of correcting the various parts of my initiative idea that I ought to rectify in order to make the initiative a better platform that would help me to successfully achieve my advocacy into implementation. For the two responses, I term them as a positive response that seeks toward ensuring the success of my advocacy issue of the younger children. As a result of the responses, I learn three concepts. To start with, the success of the advocacy greatly depend on the parent’s attitude and perception, and hence, helping parents have a positive attitude towards the issue would be a great milestone to ensuring the implementation of the issue in their schools. Such is based on the aspect that, parents hold a great controlling power to what should or should not be done for their children and hence influence the school administration decision. Besides, I learned that approaching the school's administration will help in the implementation of the issue since it is through the administration that am likely to be offered an opportunity to address the parents who will either reject or accept my advocating issue. In conclusion, three are three actions steps that I target embracing to enable in the continuation of my advocacy efforts. First, I seek to conduct extensive research in order to base my advocacy on admissible, relevant and convincing data featuring situations. Besides, I target to support my initiative which will in turn help in ensuring the continuation of my advocacy efforts. Lastly, I target to create a blog and social media platforms, which I will use to reach a great population of stakeholders, parents and young children, such will act as an advertisement platform owing to the fact that, financial constraints will limit me in advertising the initiative through media platforms such as television.
