Extract of sample "Childhood Obesity Epidemic"

Children are at a stage where they need to eat lots of food to help them grow, but they mainly need healthy food so that they don’t become obese. The other reason why childhood obesity is on the rise is due to little physical activity. Kids from 30 to 40 years ago did not have the same electronic entertainment on offer to them as children have nowadays. This has resulted in kids gaining more enjoyment from watching television or playing video games. The body needs regular exercise in order to stay healthy, and sitting around all day does nothing to prevent obesity.

I myself like to watch all of my favorite TV shows each week and I have many of them. This means that I spend a lot of time sitting on the couch while stationary. Because I have only limited time, I do not have enough time to go outside and get some exercise on a regular basis. In terms of my own family, I can demonstrate to my younger siblings the importance of good health by eating more balanced meals. At school, I can cut down on the number of fizzy drinks that I buy. Finally, for my community, I can join a sports team and encourage some of my peers to become involved.
