The paper “The Need for the US to Develop Effective Strategies for Restoring Peace in the Middle East" is a thrilling example of a term paper on social science. The Islamic of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) emerged after the US troops left the Middle East. ISIS resulted from the persistent chaos in the Middle East after the Al-Qaida Group was defeated and underwent an evident evolution to form ISIS. ISIS represents an extremist group whose main objective is to form a massive state that is under the rule of stringent Islamic law.

Worth noting is the fact that ISIS wants to replace a caliphate Islamic State as a succession of Mohammad. ISIS declared Baghdadi as its caliph. The group has extended a calling for all the Muslim countries to become part of the massive state. The ISIS group is comprised of Sunni Muslims who have always had a conflict with the Shia Muslims. Worth noting is the fact that Iraq, Syria, and Iran are some of the countries in the Middle East with a large population of Shia Muslims. Therefore, the three countries have been a major target for the ISIS group.

The ISIS group has continuously conquered territories in these countries and fuelled a high level of violence. The worst-case has been reported in Syria, where the group has committed mass killings of innocent people. The group is against the leadership of Assad, who was determined to introduce the modernization reforms in Syria. With the views of ISIS, all the Middle East countries should conform to strict Islamic law without embracing any form of modernization. The case of ISIS has introduced a state of emergency that needs to be resolved as soon as possible.

This paper will analyze how the situation in ISIS can be resolved over the next year. Body Currently, Iraq has requested the United States to render assistance in conquering the ISIS group. The group had captured many of Iraq’s cities. The United States has exhibited its commitment alongside other allies to assist in Iraq to conquer the ISIS group. However, the United States has actively participated in airstrikes against the ISIS group in both Iraq and Syria. The Iraq government resulted requesting the United States for assistance after their military troops perished under ISIS (Brown, 2015).

Therefore, Iraq’s military potential weakened immensely. The United States is yet to send ground troops to Iraq or Syria. President Obama has not allowed his troops to move into Iraq and Syria. The situation in the Middle East is very complex because the countries are characterized by civil war and high levels of instability. With such instability, ISIS has a greater potential of implementing its strategies. If the issue in Iraq and Syria is to be addressed effectively, these countries will need to exhibit their commitment to fighting against the terror group.

For example, the Iraqi government needs to adopt reforms that promote the equal treatment of Sunni Muslims. In the past, the governments that are dominated by Shia Muslims have not promoted equality, a factor that has led to the poor treatment of Sunni Muslims. With such high levels of inequalities, it proved much easier for ISIS to convince the Sunni Muslims that it was the appropriate time to form an ideal state (White, 2014). Currently, Iraq is receiving help from the United States and other allies.

However, if the government is more committed to implementing these reforms, then the issue of ISIS may be easily resolved. Iran has made certain negative contributions to the increasing violence in Syria. Iran has continuously worked with Hezbollah and other allies and fuelled the violence in Syria. Iran has relied on Hezbollah to carry out its plan of perpetuating regional wars. Therefore, Iran and its allies have played a negative role in the fight against ISIS. The allies of Iran in Syria have been committed to killing innocent people.

It is unfortunate that Iran plays such a role in the region instead of actively participating in bringing down ISIS. In Syria, ISIS believed that President Assad has no place (Esfandiary & Tabatabai, 2015). The Saudi Arabian prince, Turki has worked closely with the United States and Iraq to help the countries regain their captured territories. The Saudi Arabian prince has criticized the position of Iran and the negative role it plays in fuelling the crisis. Recently, Saudi Arabia and Russia have renewed their commitment to a partnership in developing nuclear energy.

The corporation between Russia and Saudi Arabia is likely to have positive effects in the region. Conclusion Worth noting is the fact that ISIS remains to be a highly potent terrorist group as it comprises a well-assembled army of fighters. Moreover, ISIS has convinced many youths from different parts of the world, especially from the United States and Europe to join its commitment to establish an ideal state. For this reason, the United States and its allies need to develop strategies that are more effective if they are to conquer ISIS over the next year.

Some analysts of the situation have highlighted that it is time for President Obama and Turki to send ground troops to both Iraq and Syria. Apparently, the airstrikes have not proven to be effective. The main centers of the ISIS group have been destroyed in the past a factor that has served to weaken ISIS. Therefore, if the United States and its allies develop more strategies that are effective, there is hope that peace will be restored in the Middle East.
