Why is the suicide rate so high for teenagers? Suicide is an act of taking own life as a result of discomfort with someone or something. Suicide is done by individuals from all the age brackets regardless of their socio-economic status. Teenagers usually take away their lives much often compared to all other age groups; this is because the teens are usually subjected to various pressures, as well as social class stabilities. As they try to fit into the classes, they get to realize how difficult it is and due to the disappointments, they find suicide as the only solution for them to evade the embarrassment from their peers. Depression Various life situations make is much easier to pressure someone have the thought of suicide without considering the consequences. Depression is one of the major factors that are making people from different ages take their lives. Depression among the youths is at a high rise due to the technological advancement in the modern world(Gould, patrick and Romer 113). Due to the increased innovation most of the teenagers are at the urge to coup with changes of which they may not have the required standards and the mechanisms to adapt. As they try to make themselves fit into the groups that has the alterations in the technological areas, they find it more unsatisfactory to them and they always feel embarrassedunable to be like their peers. This simultaneously make the find for alternatives to eliminate the embarrassment with makes them opt for suicide. Impossibilities make them feel not as much value living with their in capabilities among their peers. Teenagers are constantly having emotional pressures once they realize they are not in the right standards of their expectations. Substance Abuse Exposure of the teens to certain life activities without limiting them usually makes them more enthusiastic to have the experiences in their originality and get to know their advantages. Drugs are some of the things that teens are always at the momentous of trying to get their so said advantages;these make them have the ideas of trying them for themselves and experience the effects for themselves. Once they are into continuous drug taking, they end up being aficionados of drug taking Drug taking requires the individuals to have the financial accomplishments to be able to purchase the drugs. Lack of the cash to purchase the drugs makes it more difficult for them to have the access to them thus being frustrated in life. As they try to get the solutions for their dissatisfactions, some will end up opting to take away their lives as the most applicable elucidation. However, not all with the addiction of drug taking who end up being addicts to reach to the option of suicide. Some drugs may leave the user in esteems that are not easily gone through, they affects the physiological reasoning of the individual and leave him or her with an only option of suicide. Most of the suicides from such cases result from taking of drugs that have high incentive to the functionality of the brain.Bhang smoking usually has such stimulations to the individuals. The stimulations makes an individual have low cognitive competences hence making fallacious choices. Self-blame Teenagers who blame themselves for life disappointments and all the miserable situations they always demotivate themselves from improving on their situations and have better lives. Blame on own deeds and disadvantages in life usually lead to demonization and hence developing self-hatred. Once one lacks the motive to live after blaming him or herself, the next option is always committing suicide. When one is utterly fanatic with self-inabilities to set up own standards, they will usually have the blame on themselves regardless of the considerations that others may be the contribution of the inabilities. Self-blame has therefore increased the causes of suicide rates among the teenagers. When one faces the compression to constrain perversity, they always forget it’s not against the individuals in their lives who will hurt but rather against one’s acuities. Lack of interpersonal consultation, the individuals may constantly lack the right individual to talk their problems to henceforth lack of solutions to their problems(Joe, Sean, and Kaplan 98). Biological factors The brain chemistry is also a contributing factor to the teen’ssuicidal cases. This is because in families where mental in capabilities as well as suicidal cases had occurred, there is an increased risk of suicide. Belonging to a family where cases of suicide had occurred would generate the thoughts of committing suicide to susceptible teens. Lack of brain serotonin a chemical for brain functionality may trigger as it controls all the impulses in body actions. Low level of serotonin may lead to malfunction of the brain thus leading to impetuous deeds like suicide. Brain malfunction is a contributing factor in some of the suicide cases among the teenagers. Once the dis orders occur they are usually unavoidable but maybe treated with time hence controlling the deeds of the patient or rather the affected individual. Having cerebral deconstruction, the brain divides one’s life into phases that are easier to understand and co-ordinate. Once the ideologies in the thinking capacity are not broken in smaller concepts that are easier to reason and make intellectual decisions, it becomes too contemplating of ones thoughts. It makes one get all the thought about his or her misfortunes that leads to depression and self- blame, this unresponsiveness to personal emotions results to the progress in suicidal thought among the teenagers. Being busy always takes the unresponsive thought from ones’ thought and makes teens useable in undertaking of their duties (Gould, Patrick and Romer 117). Teenagers who mostly stay idle get their thoughts involved in thinking of various ways of taking away their disappointment in the lives of others and they take suicide as the most appropriate way. Sexual Abuse Sexual abuse may be another cause of high rates of suicide among teenagers. Such abuses as sexual abuse come with post-action trauma. According to research, girls are more prone to commit suicide due to sexual abuse than boys (Olshen, Elyse, et al 56). When a teenager learns that an action done against him/her might cause embarrassment among his/her colleagues, suicide might be seen as the next best option. This is always meant to avoid being a laughing stall either in school or at home. Major Disappointments Quite a big number of teenagers who commit suicide do it due to major disappointments such as loss of a boyfriend/girlfriend, rejection or failure in sports or in school. Such incidents may bring a lot of mental suffering to teens as they have difficulties in dealing with such situations. The circumstances a lone may not be the real causes of teens committing suicide. Other factors may have joined hands with these disappointments and end up causing suicide to the teenager involved (Gould, Patrick and Romer 67) Stress Stress is one of the most common causes of suicide among the youths. Stress, pressure, worries and confusion about one’s self-worth is a common problem associated with teenage. If a teen is not properly counseled on how to deal with stress and worries, he/she may end up committing suicide. A teen may have one through a parental divorce, living in a new location, going to a different school or moving in with a new family and thus experience a situation that is difficult to handle. This is because these are matters that are very unsettling and have high chances of intensifying several uncertain feelings such as anxiety, distress or agitation. Lack of Parental Guidance Parents play a major role in the lives of teenagers. Young people require guidance and encouragement all through their early years. This means that their parents and guardians should always be there to show direction at all times. Lack of this important factor may trigger problems to teens in dealing with various issues that affect them as youth. It is in the teenage where youth encounters most changes in life. It is at the same stage where a little insult means big blow to a youth. If at this stage a youth do not get the right parental guidance on how to deal with life and colleagues, a teenager may opt to commit suicide. It is thus advised that for better growth and development of teenagers, parents and guardians should be fully involved to act as mediators between them and various challenges which face them (Joe, Sean, and Kaplan 46). Therefore, there are various reasons that can be associated with increase in suicide rates among teenagers. Some of these factors include depression, drug and substance abuse, self-blame, biological factors, sexual abuse, lack of parental guidance, depression and stress among others. However, these rates can be reduced by making certain that factors contributing to suicide among teenagers are handled. Works cited: Gould, Madelyn, Patrick Jamieson, and Daniel Romer.
