The Declaration of Independence: Different Society - Book Report/Review Example

Abstract Jefferson Thomas wrote the ‘declaration of independence’, which in essence is seen to be more than a mere historical piece of literature. In a declaration made by the ‘representatives of the USA’ (Jefferson, 1743-1826), they asserted that all human beings are equal as well as independent. Human beings therefore posses inalienable and inherent rights such as rights to life and right to happiness which forms the basis of constitution of any government which is formed and empowered by the consent of the subjects to be governed.

This therefore empowers the subjects in any government to restructure and or refute any government that does not honor such rights of all human beings as should be accorded to the subjects of the nation. Discussion The representatives presented a list of violations of such preceding rights of people by the authorities that kings in the colonies of Great Britain had denied them despite the appeal of the appeals of assemblies of the representatives from USA. The declaration of independence therefore preceded the highlight of these vices that were meted on the subjects of these colonies and it read that by the power and in the name of the subjects of these states, the representatives from USA rejected and renounced any power for allegiance to such colonies by the subjects.

Moreover, the declaration affirmed the decision to break from any connection that would have held the US and Great Britain parliament and in the process declaration of independence of the states referred was made. This declaration forms the basis of independent states, which were empowered to act independently as sovereign states in commerce, administration as well as all matters of governance. A similar declaration is presented by the congress concerning sovereignty and independence of ‘thirteen states of US’.

The republic of China on the other hand is seen to have been liberated from the colonizers in early 20th century where Yat-sen Sun, in 1911 led a revolution, which led to abolishment of the feudal monarchy and the subsequent birth of a sovereign state of China. Nevertheless, full independence was realized in 1949 after the people of China were able to fully abolish colonial rule of imperialism and feudalism. The Chinese government under the full control of natives has been guided by a national constitution, just as is the case with all other sovereign nations.

Through the constitution, China is shown to consistently oppose imperialism, colonialism as well as hegemonism. Besides, the constitution holds supremacy of all Chinese people despite their nationalities of origin. In comparison with the declaration of independence as earlier discussed, the independence of China was realized through gradual efforts, which dates back since 1840 to the full independence realized in 1949. The declaration fails to capture any struggle that the states formally under the Britain crown faced in liberating the subjects from the detrimental leadership subjected on them.

However, after efforts by the US representatives to intervene, the supremacy of the subjects and the power by the people led to the declaration of sovereignty and independence of the states. This contrasts with the constitutional history of the Chinese people who are seen to have deliberately struggled for their independence.
