The Exterior and Interior Perspective of Ones Living Space It is surprising to realize that most people are oblivious of the details that are present in their own living space. They are unaware of the value that is allied with the understanding of these small features. It is vital to comprehend both the exterior and interior perspective of one’s living space. This awakening into realization has various advantages to an individual. One core advantage is that is leads to clearing of the mind hence propagating effectual thinking process. However, to successfully analyze one’s living space, it is imperative to immerse oneself into a new reality. This then fashions an enabling environment for objective analysis of an individual’s residential space. At this juncture, it becomes essential for me to analyze my residential area so as to source the benefits that accrue from this exercise. I presently reside in a two bed roomed apartment; this will be the subject of my analysis. For literal purposes, I will focus on the interior aspect of my residential area. The main entry directly borders the kitchen space. There is an additional entry door which is seldom used. The cause for this might stem from the fact that, it leads to a rarely used walk way. Therefore, the culture of the people I reside at consists of an unsaid convention not to use the front door. Once I advance from the kitchen space, I arrive at a corridor at the center of the house. Four doors now surround me. One leads to the master bedroom, another to the second bedroom, the remaining lead to the living room and the washroom. The space can be thought of as the commanding space. This is since one can access all areas of the house from this single space. It magnifies a sense of freedom as the choice of room to enter is at my prerogative. A painting I picked up at a local market store sits magnificently on the main wall. Its presence further boosts the sense of freedom. Once one enters the master bedroom a sense of cosines overwhelms the whole space. A window directly overlooks the playground next to my building. One cannot help but bask in the warmth provided by this space. The beige colored walls further justify this feeling. The computer and a small library, at the far end of the room, indicate the high regard placed on this particular room. The next room is the second bedroom. This space is mainly for visiting guests. As such, it has not been filled with numerous material possessions. The primary objects are the bed and the small table abutting the bed. The distinctive bare essentials in this room propagate emotions of seclusion. It does not provide a feeling of being at home. Rather just a resting place, as other activities have not been catered for. The window does not overlook any appealing scene; as such it is not as lively as the master bedroom. The next and final room is the living room. It has been split into a dining space and a living space. The dining space is such that it links to the kitchen via a small window. The space is appreciably expansive. As such, it is evident that the majority of times are spent here. This fact is further justified by the presence of entertainment devices ranging from radio and the TV. The design of this residential space extenuates the disparity between spaces by the use of dissimilar floor tiles and wall paint. The bedrooms have a different floor plan and they are beige in color; whereas, the walls in other spaces are colored white. This warm beige color is meant to connote the warmth that is plainly present or ought to be linked with this particular room. The bright colored walls of the living room imply the liveliness that should accompany this particular space. Additionally, the living room has multiple windows while both bedrooms have single windows in each room. The considerable number of windows makes the living room highly illuminated by natural light. The master bedroom has artificial clear reading source of light. This lack of a clear natural light, by designers of the space, signifies the privacy that should accompany this space. The existence of a reading table and a bed further rationalize this actuality. The living room is filled with sources of entertainment and is organised in such a way that, socialization is decidedly facilitated. Its proximity to the kitchen space further justifies the presence of a dining space in the room. The free atmosphere propagated by both design and arrangement of the room, conveys the welcoming nature of the living room. However, both the design and the furnishing of the master bedroom convey a sense of privacy of the space. As such, it is not welcoming to all visitors. On the other hand, the spare bedroom is not as private. Though the design is meant to propagate a sense of privacy, the furnishings have achieved the opposite goal. The result is a conflicting atmosphere of both private and public space. Conclusion While treating my residential space as an artifact, it is clear that the society I live in places high regard on privacy. The level of detail that has been built into both bedrooms is somewhat lacking in the living room. However, the expansive design of the living room may indicate that the society moreover places high regard on social interaction; thus the need for an expansive area to facilitate such. An astounding fact is that though expansive, the space has little or no detailed design. It is just simply bare.
