Giving Back to the Hispanic Community It is a matter of fact that taking an MBA is not cheap and thus needs a lot of money for a person to pursue. This has not been easy to many people of Hispanic heritage who only ends up with a degree despite their interest to further their education. Therefore, this group of deserving, talented, but poor people must just depend on scholarships and other well wishers for them to realize their dream. I also fall under this group of Hispanics who are not able to fund their education on their own and, therefore, seek for scholarship assistance from NSHMBA to pursue an MBA course. It is in my belief that when awarded the scholarship, I would contribute significantly to the realization of the NSHMBAs missions, and vision by becoming a most treasured and celebrated ambassador. The purpose of this paper is to outline my commitments to becoming a NSHMBA ambassador and strategies that I would use to help the Hispanics. As a NSHMBA ambassador, I would ensure that the mission and vision of the organizations is understood by everybody who is of Hispanic heritage. This I will do by ensuring that this group of people gets to understand the kind of scholarship programs that the organization offers. I will do this by attending the NSHMBA conference and career expo where I will explain to the audience the benefits of being part of the NSHMBA team. It is here that I will draw attention to the audience that NSHMBA is an organization that recognizes the fact that people holding graduate degrees are the key to success of the business world. Moreover, holding an MBA can increase their chances of holding competitive positions especially in top companies or achieving leadership roles. I believe such kind of words will be appealing to the participants and see the need of joining or assisting the NSHMBA towards the realization of its mission (National Society of Hispanic MBA 4). Due to the fact that the programs require massive financial assistance, I would participate actively in selling the organization’s missions to the business community and well wishers to help in providing donations to the organization. I believe I would be able to achieve this by explaining to them the financial needs of the organization in line with the organizations mission to expand their scholarship programs to reach many deserving and brilliant students of Hispanic heritage. I believe that money received from these organizations will help the NSHMBA expand their scholarships because there are so many Hispanic people who deserves the scholarships but are left behind due to lack of enough funds to accommodate them in the program (National Society of Hispanic MBAs 13). It is in my strongest belief that partnership is very important in service delivery. As an ambassador of the NSHMBA, I would work tirelessly in collaboration with management to seek for like-minded organizations that can partner with NSHMBA beyond those that currently exist. I believe that this can be achieved by organizing a conference and career expo through which different organizations will be invited to attend. It is in this conference that I will explain to the audience the work of NSHMBAs of providing scholarships to students of Hispanic heritage and how this has benefited a large number of people in the society. Since these organizations would also be interested in improving their corporate image by helping the needy in the society, they will see the need of collaborating. I believe these organizations will be able to see sense and seek for partnership aimed at furthering education of Hispanic since it is only through education that the society can be transformed. Strategies Aimed At Helping Hispanics Education is acknowledged worldwide to be one of the keys to success. For this reason, no one should be left out merely because he or she is not at a position to afford the necessary fees required for them to pursue the kind of education required. Therefore, efforts should be put which are aimed towards improving education standards for everybody in the society especially the Hispanics, the same way NSHMBA is doing. Hereunder are some of the strategies that I will give back to help other Hispanics: First, I will encourage other Hispanics who are deserving and talented to apply for the scholarships. This is based on the fact that, there are so many Hispanics who are willing to further their education by taking a MBA but have shied off from applying for scholarships. This I will do by organizing an education and career expo aimed at enlightening them on the benefits they can get by applying for scholarships through NSHMBA. This will involve explaining to them MBA programs offered by NSHMBA which would help in improving their management and leadership skills in the world of business. As a result, this will help alleviate them from poverty and lead to a society that is well informed (National Society of Hispanic MBAs 19). The other strategy is that which aims at ensuring that scholarship programs are increased that would cater for the ever increasing needy Hispanics. In this case, I would encourage more universities to join hand with the NSHMBA by increasing the opportunities available to students of Hispanic seeking MBA. The strategy will also involve liaising with local NSHMBA chapters. This will help in increasing the number of scholarship awards to Hispanic to above 40 recipients that was awarded in the year 2009 (National Society of Hispanic MBAs 15). My strategy will also involve liaising with the NSHMBA administration for purposes of organizing a workshop within chapters where a majority of Hispanics live for purposes of offering leadership programs. These workshops will center on strategic management, marketing, leadership and communication. This is because, through these workshops, participants will professionally benefit a great deal. The reason being, it will help increase the influence of Hispanics in the business community and the society by providing leaders of Hispanic heritage a collaboration forum, professionalisms, networking and leadership developments. Finally, I will urge the government to consider providing funds to the needy Hispanics in the society. This is because I believe that NSHMBA cannot be in a position to cater for the needs of all the Hispanics seeking to further their education due to limited availability of funds. In conclusion, as an ambassador of National Society of Hispanic MBAs, I believe I will be able to sell the organization within and outside the United States of America. In this regard, I believe my existence as an ambassador will help improve the corporate image of the organization which in turn will help it receive more donor funding and partnerships. Moreover, I believe my efforts as an ambassador will not only help NSHMBA but also the Hispanic community at large. Work Cited National Society of Hispanic MBAs. Annual Report. 2009. Print.
