According to ABC’s of the Human Mind, “psychologists have found that bullies are often raised by parents who do not teach them how to negotiate or share” (Reader’s Digest, 1990, 288). These parents typically resort to harsh and arbitrary physical punishment that reflects their own moods more than anything else. After many early lessons in erratic parental attacks, a bully misreads the actions of others. Because of the bully has never learned the value of sharing or cooperation, getting along with others is not a priority.

There are vast amounts of information that await researchers who aim to delve more deeply into the topic of bullying. When children are attacked by a bully, for example, the possible reaction could be diverse and distinct depending on an array of factors impinging on the attacker and the victim. Most frequently, the victim would not want to talk about it due to shame, embarrassment, and self-pity. Like adult victims, there are possibilities that they blame themselves for being attacked. Some studies show that children who are fragile or appear unusual in any way are the ones most likely to be picked on by a bully (Reader’s Digest, 1990, 288).

In such cases, the response and reaction of parents or teachers and other adults who might have witnessed the incident should tell higher school authorities of the bully’s assault. The appropriate and future action in terms of policies drawn as a result of studies instigated on bullying have made the considerable mark in the improvement of measures designed to create programs on school safety and security. A comparison and contrast of opinion and findings of various authors who researched on the topic would be evaluated and critiqued in terms of other studies conducted in the area.

Finally, critical issues for future research would be brought into light to give other interested researchers to possibly pursue in the near future.
