It Isn't Enough to Talk about Peace This was the way I used to feel even when I was young and, this is what has driven me from a humble upbringing to the thresholds of Monash University, Australia, which believes in fostering creativity through education and research. My fascination with computers started surfacing early on in school itself. I sensed my first feeling of achievement when at the age of thirteen I received the first Certificate in IT and at the age of fourteen learned to assemble a computer.

My mind was constantly striving to reach the peak. It was this zeal in me, which fetched me the best-project prize for “Translating Arabic Word Documents to the Braille System” during my undergraduate studies. Someday, I plan to continue work at the confluence of hardware and software and enhance products like VOIP devices, Firewalls and Routers.The teaching assistantship at Imam Muhammad bin Saud University opened up a completely new world for me. Besides for doing well, I also bagged a full scholarship for graduate studies.

This, apart from filling me with a sense of pride, made me responsible for my own future, and more importantly, it filled me with renewed enthusiasm. It re-affirmed my faith in the adage that success would follow if I were dedicated towards following my dream. My deep interest in computers since childhood and my commitment to delve into its intricacies focused my mind towards this as the subject of my doctoral studies. In college, I found myself taking active interest in system analysis and designing and implementing training programs.

I continuously involved myself with problem solving projects which proves my tenacity. I am a quick learner, creative and confident and make an in-depth analysis when I do not understand anything. Slowly and steadily, the subject became a part of me and morphed into me an inherent desire to know it deeper and better. I am often surprised at my love for the subject. In my free time, I find myself glued on to different computer projects and programs. The sound education and the multi-cultural study environment at Monash University has given me the right inspiration to equip myself with more knowledge and then strive to make a difference in the world of computers in my own country.

It has taught me that we begin to progress if we learn and adopt the best from each other. It also taught me the importance of time management and self-reliance. After doctoral studies, I plan to return to Saudi Arabia and enhance the academic structure in computers here. I would like to be involved in setting up centers for higher studies in computers under foreign collaboration. I understand that my ambitious nature requires me to have extra-ordinary perseverance, poise and determination. It requires me to keep ahead which I have proved with an early start at computers.

Living within constraints in my own country, growing up with motivation from my family since childhood, bestowed with the fortune to undertake graduate studies at a university recognized internationally for excellence in teaching, a doctoral program from your university will help me achieve my dreams.
