Questions Questions Ethical issues stand out as the main determinants of a positively progressive society. Lawrence Hinman provides an overall overview of social morality and how people should relate with one another. Ethical pluralism enables people to have an understanding of different theories on ethics and morality. It is important to note that ethics are dependent on the society that applies it. Philosophers believe in the rational minds of human beings, which allow them to set their own standards of moral requirements. The current world revolves around social dynamics which tend to create variations in ethical considerations (In Floridi, 2010). For instance, dressing codes that people currently embrace can be unethical according to perception of people 2o years ago. Lawrence Hinamn refers to ethics as a social responsibility that every member of the society has to take into account.
Rationality of human beings provides an opportunity to edit codes of ethics in ways that fit them. Ethical pluralism explains the essence of personal judgments of morality. It helps in understanding moral differences in generations and societies in relation to social dynamics (Pojman, 2006). Issues such as involvement of the media in the spread of immorality can be understood through the pluralistic approach to moral theory. The book uses features such as “Ethical Inventory” to clarify several ethical theories. Virtue ethics deals with the society in a general perspective requiring people to hold mutual responsibility in ethics. Hinman uses philosophical interpretation to enable readers to get a deep understanding of the facts. The use of current issues responds to the dynamic nature of social issues.
