A letter on the understanding of ethics, leadership, and globalization As a firm doing business in the United s,and in my capability as Chief Executive Officer and the manager of the firm, I hereby put across my voluntary commitment and will to partner with your reputable firm and work together as a joint venture whereby we shall be joint presidents of the new larger firm. In our firm, we commenced business in the year 2005 and through strong ethics, excellent leadership and globalization. we have endured the many challenges successfully and also been able to achieve a lot as seen in our website. We are committed to the utmost ethical standards of conduct in all that we do both within and outside office settings (Trevino & Weaver, 231). Throughout the 9 years of service, we have believed and continue to believe in trust, integrity and honesty in our professional job setting and this has been the firm’s cornerstone up to this level. We stand for the laws of the United States and other global countries in which our firm operates and we strive to do legitimate business and have learnt to be accountable for every action or decision taken. In our firm, we make every effort to excel in everything that we do say. For instance, securing supplies in the most ethical ways and ensuring that we offer the best quality products within the industry. We even take on the most challenging tasks and ensure that we do not stop until the job is well done. We are always dedicated to our services and approach each day strongly and with much energy and excitement. We always strive in being different and unique from the rest in terms of providing products and offering our services. We hold on to the highest standards of ethics in terms of how we relate to our suppliers, customers, competitors, fellow employees and other relevant stakeholders. The firm’s success depends on confidence and trust that we earn from the customers, employees as well as our shareholders. As management, we adhere to our objectives, vision and mission, and commitments through showing honesty and integrity to all parties when conducting business and ensure that our goals are reached solely through good and ethical conduct and this has increased our credibility in the market (Trevino & Weaver, 154). The culture of an ethically conducted business is defined from the top management and trickles down to the rest of the organizational chart. For any business to be ethical, the top management must first demonstrate ethical standards in everything that they do including decision making, dealing with employees among other processes. As the CEO, I delight in being ethical always ensure that choices that are ethically responsible are selected even at the expense of our increased profit drive. We all desire to work in environments in places where dignity and respect are paramount. Our firm is committed to creating such environments consistently so as to gain from the full potential from every player in the market especially employees who delight in such environment. This is one of the contributing factors of our business success and is done through utilizing the available talents and expertise accordingly. Our firm is and has been an affirmative action employer and has been committed to a free discrimination-working environment and offensive or abusive behaviors when dealing with customers and fellow employees. In our company’s rules, regulations and codes of conduct, there is a provision that states that any employee who feels discriminated or harassed in any way should report to the relevant authority within the firm for action to be taken. Similarly, we have designated areas within the company’s premises from where our customers can air out their concerns and grievances. Through this, hard work, commitments and loyalty are enhanced. In our business, everyone is allowed to speak his or her mind especially in matters concerning ethics. As the CEO, I have always had the responsibility of ensuring that there is an open environment from where employees can comfortably raise their concerns and questions. This enhances ethical sustainability within the company. We benefit a lot when the employees use their power to prevent mistakes from occurring by asking relevant questions and at the right time and in the right perspective. Our company investigates all reported cases of unethical behaviors and takes appropriate action. In our company, no retaliation against the employees who legally question the ethical standards of the company in good faith instead we just support such employees (Trevino & Weaver, 124). In any organization, ethical behavior does not just happen but it calls for clear and precise communication on expected behaviors modeled from the top management and shown through examples by the management as role models. In our firm, actions matter a lot. As the CEO of the company, I have always taken responsibility of promptly addressing ethical concerns which our employees, customers and even the surrounding community raise and have ensured that ethics dialogue become an inclusion in the daily business activities. As a company, we have been dedicated to ethical and fair competition. We sell our product based on merit, quality and competitive pricing. We do not offer improper payments in connection with the purchase of goods and services (Trevino & Weaver, 306). In our firm, we always strive in ensuring that we have a high quality leadership and top management who are constantly working to achieve the company’s goals (Bowerman & Montgomery, 94). As a company, we are collectively making advances towards being a global society, and our immediate communication channels enable us to communicate with other partners anywhere around the globe with whom we share the same business line. There are several character traits that we consider when recruiting members to the management team and how assessments are done within the management: Self-assessment-To enhance effectiveness and efficiency, the management starting from myself as the CEO and chair constantly takes stock of personal strengths and weaknesses. We ask questions like: ‘What do I like doing? What am I good at? What are my strengths and weaknesses?” Knowing ones weaknesses does not make one more weaker instead it allows one to delegate duties and responsibilities to those with abilities in order to achieve the vision of our firm. As a great leader, I delight in hiring people who compliment instead of those who supplement their skills. As the CEO, I always encourage the team to work on their areas of weakness so as to improve their leadership ability (Bowerman & Montgomery, 98) Sharp perception- Effective leaders know and understand how people perceive them. As the CEO of the firm, I always ensure that I have an honest level of communication with the whole team and tend to examine how they perceive me as their overall leader. In our company, we have established an environment of open and honest communication from where employees and customers can share their perception about their leaders. For instance, on many occasions, I randomly ask some employees on how they perceive me and from the answers that I get, I ensure that I work on the negative perceptions accordingly. Knowledge about the organization- An effective leader knows clearly the organization’s goals, objectives vision and mission as well as the long term motive of the organization’s existence. In our company, we engage in various internal workshops and training programs aimed at educating the team about the company, its main objective as well as the strategies of achieving the goals and objectives. We recognize the idea that full knowledge of our company is vital for effective leadership (Bowerman & Montgomery, 97) Responsive to the needs of the team- As a leader, I always delight in knowing the values and needs of the group. Some people value creativity, others value a great organizer to a great clear communicator among other values. Knowing the values and goals of each individual and both their preferences are non-preferences to build a strong team. Team building, negotiation, goal setting and motivation skills-In our firm, we do recognize that in today’s business, we must commit ourselves to learning and building skills such as motivation, goal setting, team building and negotiation skills so as to achieve success. Our firm has been much focused on training employees on such skills through attending workshops, internal and external seminars, as well as engaging in online business courses (Bowerman & Montgomery, 95) Globalization of business refers to the change of business from operating in a single company to one that undertakes operations in multiple countries. Since the incorporation of our firm in 2005, we have undertaken efforts to globalize efforts and have been able to open up three branches outside the US. This has greatly increased our customer base and has made distribution of our marketing and distribution of our products easier and more effective. In addition, it has widened the scope of our business in terms of new opportunities and avenues for growth. For instance, raw materials have always been acquired at reduced costs (Akhunov & Corsi, 16). Apart from these, good market forces have always been on our side. We have also grabbed market globalization and product globalization aspects to enhance our business. We take advantage of the decline in barriers to selling products internationally and the fewer restrictions have enabled us to distribute our products to several countries. In addition, we source materials from other countries at relatively lower costs through the product globalization aspect. Through this, our products have continued to be offered in the market at relatively lower prices. Globalization of our business activities has also enhanced employment opportunities (Akhunov & Corsi, 25) Through globalization, we are free to choose the location from where we can operate cheaply and effectively so as to work towards achieving our goals. Technology including the internet and the use of mobile technology has enhanced communication among the few branches located in several nations. We have a joint website for the head office and the branches from where any single relevant information about the company is posted. In addition, the use of social media such as Face book, Instagram and twitter has revolutionized the way we do international business as information about our company is shared and this has enhanced our reputation in the world market (Akhunov & Corsi, 64).
