South Platte Valley Historical Society Fur Trader Store and Museum The museums are continuously providing a way of guiding, educating and informing people about the ancient cultures, arts, crafts and living standards of people. The South Platte Valley historical Society is a museum that aims at preserving the historical values of South Platte Valley region. This museum, like any other museum, provides ample useful information and historical guidance about the regional culture, values and norms that existed.

The museum is located in the north side of Ford Lupton. It has a lot of resources that help researchers and students to construe the historical evidence and educate them of the importance of their values. My visit to the museum was wonderful as it contained interesting objects and information about those objects. I observed Red Indians’ tent and understood their trading concepts and ways. The tent seemed original and properly arranged with enough information provided to show how they sold their products.

The exposure to their weapons and their trade of weapons was a further illumination on the lives of Red Indians. The museum also consisted of pictures depicting the travelling medium of people of that era. The depiction and placement o objects was in such a manner that created a feeling of living their life by ourselves. The knowledge about their trading, travelling, living, dressing and entire cultural practices stayed on mind for a long time. The museum is a good place for people interested in learning historical concepts, values and standards.

The depiction of people riding horses in large masses provides information on the backwardness of their society in terms of technology. However, the display of their weapons which included ancient guns, swords and knives provides a vivid image of how their wars and battles used to be. I personally feel motivated to learn more about the ancient culture which was extremely different from our life today. I found the visit amusing yet informative. The museum opened up new ways of thought for me as the ancient culture, without technological advancements, held values that are absent today.

The museum exposed the unity that people held and their harmony in trade. The modern era of betrayal and deception calls for a revival to those values that people had in the historical period. I feel more comfortable and positive than before about their backwardness as they had relationships which are more important than the technologies that we have.
