Introduction:Child behavior is correlated with the kind of development or progress it makes in its life. Most children follow the pattern of natural growth and hence behave in accordance with normal circumstances. But there are other children, who for many reasons do not develop in the right manner and hence their behavior patterns are most unnatural and need special attention.Observation: An observation was made by me of a 26 month old kid named Kyle.Sex: MaleAge: 26 month old boy childDate of Birth: 26th August, 2005.
Obser…. Pg-2Method: Cognitive Development: I did an observation of Kyle for many days and found him to be very receptive and alert because he had reached all the milestones in the areas of development. He showed good understanding of what was going on and cooperated well with me. He was able to distinguish between a “cookie” and a “cake”. The child had asked for a cookie and his brother gave him a cake instead which he refused and insisted he get a cookie.
The child displayed his language and communication ability by answering all the people around him.Social Development:Kyle was rather a sweet child who got along better with older children and adults. He always wanted to be the center of attraction while he bossed and gave instructions to his older brother and sister. He was a rather friendly kid as he laughed and joked pulling at his brother’s coat and ran around the table as he sat on each ones lap. He seemed to be an ego- centric kid as he was always trying to grab the attention of others.
According to Erickson, a child’s psycho-social behavior can be judged by observing how well he interacts with people in his environment. He displayed an emotional attachment as he went in search of his grandfather and when he missed his mother he called out, “Mommy where are you?” Obser….Pg-3Physical Development:I found Kyle to be a healthy kid who was very active and strong. He had excellent motor skills as he tried to hop, jump, twist and run around the whole place.
He banged several times on the glass table and laughed louder as he banged harder. While sitting at the table he tried pushing it using both his feet. His brother assisted him to drink from a juice box, but he pulled it from him and began drinking it by himself. According to Piaget’s theory a child uses his five senses when interacting with people and things in his environment. This is very true in Kyle’s case as he used his senses to interpret and deal with things around him.Observation 2:Subject: A small childSex: MaleObservation: An Observation was made of a small boy as he sat playing at a sand table.
Cognitive Development:The child was a keen observer while playing at the sand table. He watched all the others around him and even answered his teacher while she asked him a few questions. He was capable of recognizing which object to use for scooping up the sand.] Obser…Pg-4Social Development:The child mixed well with the other children who sat around the sand table. The child scooped sand with a scoop he had and then leveled it after pouring it down.
After this he took a rubber snake and placed it over his head and then tied it around his neck. All this while, he kept interacting with the children who were watching him.Physical Development:The child’s motor skills were good as he used both his hands to scoop the sand and level it out. He had no trouble in tying the rubber snake around his neck. He was engaged in parallel play as well as solitary play for which he used his motor skills.
