 Bhang smoking Introduction Smoking of bhang, also known as marijuana or weed to most users is significantly harmful to a person’s mental and respiratory health. The effects of bhang smoking on the smokers have been known to be long term and are felt through an abusers lifetime. Bhang smoking can cause memory loss and lung problems. Diseases coursed by Bang smoking. First hand and second hand bhang smokers are affected in a more similar way. Bhang smoking can also lead to addiction. Psychologists argue that the addiction caused by bhang is more of mental addiction rather than of physical addiction. Using of this drug also causes fatal diseases such as the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease which is widely denoted as COPD (Walter). Another disease which is caused by bhang smoking is chest bronchitis. These diseases have been scientifically proven to affect bhang smokers. Bhang smokers are also in a more risky situation to contract this disease in relation to cigarette and tobacco smokers. Bhang smoking can also cause emphysema. Lung cancer and other related respiratory diseases can also be caused by abusing this drug. Doctors have also put forward that bhang can lead to mental related issues. This mostly affects the users who smoke bhang so as to deal with particular problems they are encountering. The abuse of bhang is also dangerous since although it is the most abused drug worldwide, it does not provide the drug users with withdrawal symptoms. This is contrary to other drugs such as alcohol. Side effects of Smoking Bang Research has shown that most bhang smokers are affected by it due to the way they inhale the drug. Most of the users tend to retain much the smoke in their lungs while inhaling as a better way of using the drug. This act tends to increase the accumulation of tar which is present in the drug. This tends to cause lung cancer in shorter period than cigarettes. Research has also shown that bhang smoking can lead to female infertility (Chein). An Australian report indicated that the use of bhang is causing harmful effects during pregnancies and may cause birth failures or miscarriages. This is a long term effect. Research has also put forward that continued use of bhang by males can tamper with the sperm functioning which leads to a negative impact. Study has also proven that this disease leads to psychosis, depression and anxiety (MD Newcomb). These are psychological problems. Sixty percent of mentally ill persons have their illness being related to drug consumption. Most of these persons prefer use of bhang and drinking of alcohol. Psychiatrist then argue that the role played by alcohol in causing these diseases is quite minimal and most probably this issues are mostly related to the inhaling of marijuana. Psychotic diseases are also depicted to affect persons who started to abuse from a young age. The most affected age Group. Teenagers between the age of sixteen and twenty five are the most highly affected group by the psychotic diseases. Study has also shown that bhang smoking causes unipolar which is a depression disorder. The relation between bhang and depression is also prevalent. Statistical research has shown that the number of people affected by depression is almost equal to the people affected by psychosis. However, most of the people affected by depression do not have access to clinical facilities. The most striking attribute of this particular disorder is that the people who are not so much dependent on marijuana have a higher risk of contracting this disease. Studies have also associated many suicide cases with the use of bhang. For instance most bhang users in the United States of America have being documented to have reported most cases of attempted suicide. This data is as shown in the US National Co morbidity Survey (Crewe). This is due to socio demographic problems and related psychiatric problems. Effect of Bang on education Research put forward by anti-drug organizations have shown that use of bhang has led to school drop outs, a drop in academic performance of most of the students who are users of bhang and the lack of credibility in their studies. Bhang has also led to change in behavior effects whereby most bhang users tend to commit many crimes and are also the most defiant in the society. The continued use of bhang can also cause prostate cancer and cervical cancer which mostly affect adults who had used marijuana in their earlier life. This is as shown in Epidemiological studies (Cornelia M. Keck). It has been documented that most testicular diseases in most western countries are caused due to the continued use of bhang. Recommendations The growing of bhang should be controlled in areas where it emanates. The trade of bhang should also be controlled in most of the places where it is being traded. My position is that the growing and trading of bhang should be made legitimate. Making this trade legal will lead to a more systematic control of it and an economic fight against this trade rather than a political war which does not yield any results. Controlling of bhang trade will lead to reduced cases of smuggling bhang into countries. The legitimizing of the trade in bhang will also lead to less speculation of this trade and more controls. These controls include higher taxes being levied on bhang trade which will raise the price levels of bhang. This will lead to diminishing demand of this commodity in the target market which will materialize in lower consumptions. To prepare for this legitimate trade, control of the growing of bhang is necessary. This means that lesser amounts of this commodity will reach the target market. Most of the desired achievements have been motivated by the fact that abolishment of the trade of bhang will lead to a better social, economic and political universe. This is because land used in growing this commodity will be used in better economic activities such as growing of coffee and tea. This will generate more income to the country through provision of employment and the acquisition of revenue from taxes which in turn raises the standards of living. The crime rate is also predicted to reduce since it is directly proportional to the consumption of bhang. This means that if the consumption of this commodity reduces, the social injustices and the crime rate will tend to reduce. The reported cases of mental diseases, different types of cancer caused by bhang and other related to reduce are expected to reduce. This will lead to more healthy society. The reduced consumption of bhang is also expected to lead to a better political system on the earth. The reduction of the consumption of bhang will lead to less smuggling of this illegal product between countries. This will lead to less blame between countries. This will result to improvement in international relations and global co operations. Conclusion Bhang growing and trading should be controlled in a hierarchical manner from the persons producing it to those peddling. The war against bhang should be more intellectual than what is put in place currently. Time is also a determining factor and patience should apply.
