College Students and Eating For college students, eating at fast food locations may be one of the most convenient ways to eat. This is because of the fact that college students usually do not have the opportunity to go home every day, especially when their university is so far away, leaving them no choice but to take a student dormitory. In this case, especially when they have a lot of academic requirements to fulfill, they seldom have the luxury of time to cook their own food. Or, if they may have the time, they simply do not have enough energy left to do it.

This makes them have no choice but to depend on fast food chains for their meals. However, according to a study, college students’ dependence on fast food may actually lead to serious health complications in the future (Leong n. p.). According to Dr. Kristie Leong, Eating fast foods may have little impact on a teen or young adult’s health in the short term; but more studies are showing that a poor diet during the teen and childhood years can set a teen up for health problems later – including type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart disease (Leong n. p.)This is the reason why a lot of college students must consider the way that they eat right now, especially when taking into consideration the future health consequences that is at stake.

Given the fact that fast food companies also do not ensure that they are serving healthy meals to their clients (mostly due to economic considerations), it is up for the college students to recheck their eating habits, and think more of what’s at stake when they finally grow up.Works CitedLeong, Kristie. “College Students and Fast Food: How Bad is The Problem?” HealthMad.com.
