Having read the article which is titled Escape from Manhattan, I found many ideas that were expressed by the author quite agreeable. Mediated storytelling will not allow people of the world to perceive reality as it is since direct interaction with it which will be substituted by its virtual version. Indeed, various tragedies that happen in the world with appearing in the form of just another post or news.

One should also dwell on the role that religion plays in this discussion. The author suggests that in the previous time's religious experience, backed up by the scriptures, was able to satisfy the demand of a person for a journey to other worlds. Nevertheless, nowadays video games, movies, social media and other manifestations of technology allow one to do the same but without the moral aspect to it. So, technology gradually pushes religion to the periphery of social life.
