Since mental and physical well-being is one of the most dominant aspects of the individual and collective life of the people, which is imperatively essential for performing their personal and professional duties and obligations in an effective manner, the health and fitness of the clergy are particularly necessary for the religious guidance and spiritual uplift of the entire society. The following hypothesis has been developed for the present study:
Superior healthcare measures being adopted and exercised within a social establishment for the mental and physical well-being of the clergy turns out to be highly supportive ones in respect of their rendering religious services to society in a better and more effective manner.
The present research has been supported by the Social Organism Theory by Spencer (1857) and the Theory of Religion by Durkheim (1912); both of these perspectives maintain a direct association with the topic selected for this study.
The study will be conducted in the Northeast Mississippi Region, where the pastors, church ministers, and other members of church administration will be the universe for the present research. The data for this study will be gathered based on probability sampling. Questionnaire and Content Analysis will be applied as the tools for data collection in the present study. In the end, the research findings will be arrayed, and interpretations will be made in light of the findings. The research findings will be presented with the help of tables and graphs in a precise and organized manner for the comfort and convenience of the readers.
Religion is rightly claimed to be an essential part of the public and private life of individuals belonging to various cultures and civilizations since the known history of the globe. It is partly because of man’s developing strong belief in the metaphysical objects and supernatural powers existing in the universe, with which man has developed an unflinching emotional and sentimental association since ever. These conceptualized paranormal powers are considered to be strongly influencing the destiny and activities of the people by dint of their control over the universal phenomena in general. Not only this that these powers are considered to be in a position of providing humans with emotional and financial support in multiple ways, but also they are regarded to be the forces that play a decisive role in protecting them from all internal setbacks, external threats, and natural calamities as well. In addition, these forces are thought to be having the power to inflict woes, worries, and pains upon the humans on the one side, as well as liberating them from the clutches of these calamities on the other. Humans seek the support of supernatural forces at the moment of finding themselves entirely powerless in respect of settling their problems and getting rid of their woes and sufferings altogether out of their own. In other terms, supernatural forces were (and still are) considered to be maintaining absolute control over the fate and fortune of humans in all respects, where the humans as well as all other living organisms co-existing with them in the same environment, are entirely reliant upon the supernatural forces in all matters and activities at large. As a result, primitive man had established his belief in these powers to escape pains and sufferings of different kinds, and for obtaining all comforts and joys life offered to him, along with attaining pelf, power, and possession that could earn a dominant place for him in comparison to the ones possessed by the fellow-humans. It simply conveys that lust for dominating over the fellow-humans as well as the rest of the creatures, and desire to lead a lavish, comfortable and tranquil life lead the ancient era humans to develop belief the supernatural forces and worshipping them according to the methods and manners decided and determined by their religious and spiritual leaders. Hence, religion is, according to Durkheim, a unified system of beliefs and practices relative to sacred things, including set apart and forbidden beliefs and practices which unite into one single moral community called a Church, all those who adhere to them. Somehow, the arrival of great personalities, and their rendering unflinching and most sincere services to the institution of religion played a decisive role in the growth and progress of religion. ...Download file to see next pages Read More
