Describe what Christians believe about the church and show in what way this belief leads to a view of how humans ought to live together in community.” The Church’s Role in the Society To many people a church is a building where Christians gather to worship and to others it is a group of Christians who are gathered for religious purposes. However, many Christians view the church as a unifying factor for the community and how people ought to live together. The church offers diverse teachings on morals, spiritual teachings, as well as, disciplinary teaching. There are available tenets and beliefs that the church is only concerned in teaching people and aid them to achieve salvation via the grace given by God. Thus can be taken to be the principal reason of existence for the church but there are other reasons for its existence. A church is a place where people in the community meet a few times in a week in order to be taught morals and tactics of living peacefully with each other. The church exists in all communities and there is nowhere in the 160 sovereign nations existing today that does not have one. Each and every community honouring the basic human rights retains a big role for the church. For instance, in countries where it is marred with racism, then the church plays a key role in ensuring that the people live together in peace and harmony. If there are any disagreements, then the church ensure that it solves the issue and come up with a long lasting solution. Mostly the clergy are notified of the issue and they call them for consultation (MRM, n.pag). Therefore the church plays a major role of uniting people and ensuring that the community has peace. The clergy men act like Jesus when he took the human flesh and came to live among us. Another major role played by the church in the community is provision of refuge for the less privileged people in the community. There are many people in the society that cannot afford the basic needs and therefore, the church has makes sure that these people have their needs taken care of (MRM, n.pag). For instance, there are some people in the society that are homeless. Therefore, the churches have organized safe houses where they can spend their nights as well as get access to other amenities. In this case the church plays the role of making people in the community feel appreciated and dignified which is a major breakthrough in the society. Another example is provision of children’s homes for orphans. Many churches all over the world have created programs that assist children who have been abandoned to make sure that they have appropriate care as they grow to become better people in the society. Many churches all over the world also organize seminars that will enable people to adjust better in the society. The church also ensures that people maintain order and respect among themselves especially when dealing with people of the opposite sex (MRM, n.pag). Women have always been undermined in the society and the church has ensured that it has created some balance between the man and women. This has contributed greatly to the tremendous respect among the different sexes as well as the entire community. A society without education needs a church and Christianity. This is because in many places where churches are located, there are schools. It is the responsibility of the church to ensure that the community is learned and that the people in the area are knowledgeable enough to establish the wanted change in terms of development. Without education, there is a danger of having less development. This is a major issue that has faced many communities that do not have churches (MRM, n.pag). Additionally, the biggest danger that can face the society is having uneducated youths. It is the responsibility of the church to make sure that the youths are educated. In case there are some youths that have dropped out of the school, then, the church has people who can reach out to them and council them (MRM, n.pag). Therefore, the church plays a vital role in ensuring that each and every person in the community attains some level of education that will enable them to cater for themselves. Christians also believe that the church deals with the society’s moral order. The moral order in the community is based on the dignity of each and every human being. This is proven by the fact that many communities in the world today basically decide on the political fate of numerous individuals. Corruption is a massive issue that has continuously marred the society. This is attributable to the fact that the community today has entrusted their lives to politicians for development (MRM, n.pag). However, the politicians do not work while putting the public’s terms in consideration. The church plays a major role in making sure that they criticize the politicians and ensure that they uphold dignity in their actions. The church is supposed to establish a fare playfield for the society by ensuring that there is less corruption. The fact that each one of us is created in the likeness of God and it is imperative that people should recognize as well as honour and protect them. Morals are the most important factors of a developing community and that is why; church forms the basis component of the society (MRM, n.pag). For instance, issues in the society like an economic instruct, education, a political system, degrades the human dignity which violates fundamental human rights, the Church gets involved. This has been achieved by making sure that the full truth and dignity of the moral order gets upheld as well as clearly calling out the existent abuses without fear or bias. In addition, the most imperative aspect is seen in the Churchs positive responsibility of promoting and explaining an assortment of components in maintaining a just social order. In conclusion, social responsibility of the Church should be described alike that of a leader towards achieving a better society. The church is not only a responsive part in each and every society but also to every human in the world. The most basic thing about the church is that people associate Jesus and the actions associated with his existence to the present way of life. Therefore, everybody is embarking on becoming the best person they ought to be in ensuring that the society as a whole is catered for and protected. The church elaborates more on how people interact, socialize, relate and live together. This is the main reason why; people should view the church as more than a worship place or an institution where Christians gather but view it as one of the main aspects that assist in maintaining good morals and standards in the society.
