Task: Personality Analyzation The American crime television series Breaking Bad was produced by Vince Gilligan in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The two-year-long tale has a main character Walter White (Bryan Cranston) raised in Southern California and born from a show business family. Cranston generated his acting debut at eight years old in a United Way advertisement, but considered acting after finishing college. After exploring theatre, Cranston landed in a role on the television show Love Without End. The marvelous performance catapulted him to being signed as a main cast affiliate of ABCs Loving. The passion drove him to a seven-year play as Hal on Malcolm in the Middle, nominated for three Emmy and Golden Globe Awards. He has also played leading roles as Tim Whatley in Seinfeld, Buzz Aldrin in miniseries From the Earth to the Moon, and I Know My First Name is Steven. Apart from playing leading roles, he has also guest-featured in abundant TV programs. His love for theater has manifested through credits in A Dolls House, Eastern Standard, The God of Hell, Barefoot in the Park, The Taming of the Shrew, The Steven Weed Show, and Wrestlers. He is also an enthusiastic director and screenwriter. Despite featuring in many shows, the paper focuses on his personality in Breaking Bad. Breaking bad is a captivating show worth watching as it does not only entertain, but provide an insight of drama. Walter White remains one of the many morally reprehensible characters at the helm of modern TV dramas. Walts renovation from humble chemistry teacher to lethal drug kingpin has initiated water-cooler discussions in passionate articles, blogs, and online discussion forums more than any other bad man in the movie world. He has a second work at a carwash to make ends meet amidst many life problems. Apart from the part time job, he is a high school teacher in the distressed financial system of the American Southwest. Evidently, he has a child on the way, which further complicates issues for him as he requires more financial security. In the drama, Walter white is a struggling high school science teacher who is found to be suffering from a deadly lung cancer at the start of the series. Breaking Bad echoed because many Walter Whites exist globally. Most people have the ability when given the chance; however, few have capitalized on the strength. Also known as Heisenberg, Walter Hartwell White remains a fictional character who was once a hopeful chemist. He is one of the founders to the multi-billion dollar corporation Gray Matter Technologies, but leaves after selling his shares for $5,000. The exit is driven by personal reasons including being diagnosed with Stage IIIA lung cancer. Surviving on limited hopes, he becomes disillusioned and unhappy high school chemistry teacher who resorts to manufacturing methamphetamine to guarantee his familys financial security after succumbing to cancer. Walter progressively becomes darker and increasingly villainous as the series develops. In as much as, AMC officials were reluctant to sign Cranston due to the prior comedic role on Malcolm in the Middle, Gilligan his past performance in the X-Files gave him a score above board. Cranston displayed much of his personality including Walters back story, personality traits, and physical appearance. Knowing zero about the drug trade after manufacturing methamphetamine, he enlists the help of his former student, Jesse Pinkman, to create a sales channel. Walts dedication and scientific knowledge make him produce crystal meth, which is more potent and pure than any competitors. The quality acts as a primary step into his devastating life. In the spirit of perfecting production with limited inputs, he avoids the monotonous anthology of pseudoephedrine for production resorting to alternative chemical process utilizing methylamine. The transformation gives his product a unique blue color, different from other products. His crystal meth, finds a name in the street "Blue Sky," dominating the market within a short time. Fearing flooding of the market, established Kingpins confront the newly Baptized Mr. White in the drug business. In the beginning, Walt is squeamish concerning the use of violence to resolve issues. He is new into the business and does not prefer seeing people getting harm because of his business. However, as he develops his business, he finds violence as a necessity of achieving control and power. His new status as a drug lord is psychologically rewarding, considering that he manufactures, controls the profits and enjoy domination. As a result, he becomes reluctant to resort to other criminal acts such as money laundering, depraved indifference theft, extortion, and murder. Contrary to viewers expectations Walts Macbethian drop into the criminal underworld reveals immense levels of deeply repressed rage, ambition, vanity, resentment, and ruthlessness. The change in character creates a barrier, which alienates him other family members and colleagues. He definitely a very quick learner as manifested earlier in the episode when he was still blaming Skyler for various things. However, when he sees how malevolent his father can be, he graduates from a child to adult to protect his mother. In the episode, he appears to be envious and demands more space. He does not have respect for Junior and his wishes. He is compartmentalizes Heisenberg, who is this tough, cold, calculating person with a well-meaning father figure, but cannot achieve the objective. When he calls Skyler at the beginning of the episode he plays Mr. Nice Apologetic person to cover his tracks making him a more complicated character throughout the movie. Furthermore, he knows how to assume his duplicitous role amidst effort to showcase the main idea. He is a schemer and keeps grudge resorting to harm the same people when they fail to reciprocate his love for them. For instance, When Junior sides with his mother, Walt basically resorts to taking the baby. According to him, the baby has not been influenced to judge or perceive him in a different way. In this light, he grabs the baby as a way of redeeming himself. The apparent threat to lose his family destabilizes his operations hence portraying as a loving and caring individual. Arguably, the change to manufacture drugs was to protect his family from financial problems; however, this proves difficult considering that he is losing the main elements. At a point, he starts thinking less rationally, because of the coldly calculated approach is not working anymore to stick the family together. In many instances, many regard sociopaths as people who do not possess any feelings. In Breaking bad, it exists on a spectrum based on the severity of given traits or characteristics. Walt possibly has minor aspects of it, but he portrays extreme actions including kidnapping families. He is a sinister manipulator ensuring that he always gets his wishes, but does not take into consideration what other think. Conceivably, he does thrive well on cruelty to others, contrary to Todd who finds the environment amusing. In the story Todd remains the real sociopath, who goes to immeasurable limits to satisfy his feelings. With regards to dissociation theory, he began going off the rails as a strategy to cut out the Heisenberg part and quit the business. The nature of real dissociation happens when things that cannot be suppressed surfaces including representations of needs and drives. However, he has modified into somebody that cannot stand various things. As a result, he cannot suppress certain actions despite trying. For example, many viewers think the series has a simplified version of battered spouse. For this reason, it appears they are cowering and hiding certain activities to make the story continue. It is important to note that whereas complexity prevail in reality deeper understanding is necessary. Arguably, there is a whole stage of rationalization, as compared to Stockholm syndrome. Walt’s character furthermore prevails in the cycle of violence, followed by a period of battering, apology, and finally the honeymoon. There is a deliberate buildup of tension associated with the delusion that the batterer makes legitimate excuses. The story reached a point of moral superiority when White could not make rational choices. When Hank arrested Walt, he could not decide what to do or apply to sustain previously built power. Instead, he receives help from Skyler and Todd. Walt is a non intelligent sociopath as he finds himself in many problems. His strategic power cannot help him as compared to his counterpart Todd who is in the same business. Todd believes in pride of his work, and has no emotional feeling for any of his acts of cruelty in the process of getting what he wants. He uses all the tools he has and within reach including violence, for the most part of operations. Walter’s actions may have persuaded viewers to believe that he is a decent man only driven by desperate circumstances to commit terrible things. However, a close look and analysis of the drama groups this as either wishful thinking or tactical dishonesty. He is a man mastering his profession and struggling to claim his original level in the world of struggles. He is an expert in lying making the story probably one of the most entertaining shows in the world. Notably, he is amazing at coming up with answers like those that explain facts, such as WebMD. Interestingly, the excuses fit the symptoms perfectly nonetheless innocuously. He is a master of playing and deflection involving not just peoples emotions, but also their expectations about him and his entire activities. In this light, he becomes a schemer who puts his interest at hand and can do anything to ensure he remains relevant. Walts conscious choice not to save Jane when he could, lead to death of 167 people on a plane. Conceivably, this is because Janes dads sorrow interfered with his job of controlling air traffic. Janes dads suicide was the last upheaval from that sequence of events, and also Walts fault. Those who were still sympathizing with Walt, or might have been on the railing, may have seen emancipation through Walt murdering the two gangsters about to slay Jesse in a later episode. Most importantly, Walt lost viewers completely when he prearranged the cold-blooded execution of mild-mannered Gale, who was Walts right hand man in crystal meth mogul of Gus Fringe’s lab. From this perspective, there is limited hope for moral redemption and the paramount activity to do is to save some innocents as he narrows toward his demise. His deadly rant at Skyler on the telephone after kidnapping their daughter perhaps meant to provide Skyler with some permissible cover. He was nonetheless dreadfully intolerable and hurtful in his actions. Despite being strong, drug kingpins and other powerful people can dissociate as everybody. It, therefore, is important for people to separate from personal feelings that can direct one to commit unreasonable things. In conclusion, Walter White starts from a humble background to an influential person, but later falls back to even lower levels. It is vital to observe that success is dependent of actions; therefore, people should not indulge in illegal things and expect family support. For viewers the movie is a moral message of what not to do or commit in the society. Evidently, the society is composed of different people having varied interests. Despite the mixture, people have to co-exist and find a common ground where all people have an equal chance and opportunity to express their views. Walt is a person who took advantage of his situation to exploit other space. Amidst efforts to maintain superiority he extends his authority even to family members denoting him as a heartless and ruthless person who does not have a boundary between family and business. Through, Walter White, the movie further teaches viewers to distinguish that in as much as good people can commit things for good reasons; it can still turn out unbearably. This not only affects the surrounding people but also family members. It, therefore, is important to make rational choices that do not only limit one’s emotional, physical and psychological stability but also the welfare of others.
