Methods Of Dealing With Stress For Women And Men Abstract An individual’s causes of stress are governed by his/her likes and dislikes. However, causes of stress vary from gender to gender depending upon the general trends, practices and priorities of a particular gender. Every gender, male or female has certain traits that prevail in all the pupils from that gender. All women in the world commonly share certain causes of stress because their lifestyle is fundamentally influenced by the feministic way of thinking. Similarly, men all over the world have similar reasons to worry about because of the role they are expected to play in the society. Role of individual gender in the society is decided by such factors as religion, culture and social norms and values. This paper analyzes the potential causes of stress both among men and women and the ways and means, both genders commonly adopt to work their way out of the problems because of the dictations of masculinity and feminism. Introduction: In the modern era of technological boom and rapid industrialization, the life style of people has been modified in a number of ways. The standard of living people, all over the world, today is considerably different from what it was a few decades ago. This has affected the people both mentally and physically. People today, have different ways of thinking, different things to think about and different means to accomplish their goals. Likewise, likes and dislikes of people have been altered by the technological advancement in general. Men and women have very different reasons for getting worried. Likewise, both adopt very different approaches towards dealing with their stress. Causes and dealing of stress among women: Women generally tend to be more worried as compared to men. Remaining in stress is indeed, an intrinsic trait of feminism. Common causes of stress among women are follows: Women, all over the world tend to be very particular about their marriage irrespective of cultural or regional differences. Marriage is a big issue both for a girl and her parents, particularly in many Eastern societies. This can fundamentally be attributed to the fact that in many Eastern societies, people tend to wait for a proposal to come for their daughter so that they can proceed with the arrangements of her marriage. If a girl chose a boy for herself, it would not be considered ethically right. The decision to choose life partner for their daughter fundamentally rests with the parents and they tend to wait, for some eligible bachelor to propose. However, in a conservative society, parents, particularly the mothers have to wait for long for a proposal to come. It is not unusual, for a girl in such cultures, to remain unmarried for the whole of her life simply because no one proposed her while she was young. Mothers tend to be very worried about the future of their unmarried daughters and so are the daughters themselves. Marriage is indeed, the biggest source of stress for many women particularly in the East. However, the tension does not always relieve once the girl gets married. This can be attributed to women both in the East and the West. After the marriage, almost all religions and regional cultures require the bride to move to the groom’s place. The girl has to leave her parents, siblings and every one behind and start a new life with her husband. Many husbands do not keep the brides happy and torture them for many reasons. Dowry is one of the most common causes of tension between bride and groom after marriage. In addition to dowry, many women are divorced merely because they could not produce children. Infertility boosts stress among married couples and the ultimate sufferer in most of the cases is woman. Women tend to be cooperative and compromising in order to cope with the matters. Very few women fight for their rights and when they do, they have to break free of the bond of marriage in a vast majority of cases. Divorce is a sign of unhappiness among married women (Leiva, 2010). This exposes the woman to social criticism for the rest of her life after divorce. Despite that, divorce is the maximum a woman can get to break free of a troublesome marital bond. Fitness is a growing concern for almost every girl in any part of the world. This is because women are conventionally associated with beauty and attraction in literature, poetry, fashion and media. A woman is expected to be beautiful. This can also be attributed to the intrinsic consciousness and longing desire among women to look beautiful. In such circumstances, when a woman can not maintain a smart figure and attractive looks, she is fairly susceptible to anxiety and distress. Women try a number of medical and herbal products to maintain their beauty in an attempt to attain the desired results. Unfortunately, many such products offer side effects that put the users into even greater trouble. Chinese herbal teas are largely employed as a means to reduce weight. Hibiscus tea contains phaseolamin that keeps amylase from breaking down carbohydrates and fats, hence a woman can retain a smart figure through regular use (Redappleyoga, 2010). Causes of stress in men: Although there can potentially be a lot of reasons for men to be worried. However, for the volume of this paper, it would be rational to compare the approach of men in similar issues as has been discussed for women. In marital bond, men usually assume an edge over their counterpart, because of the intrinsic strength nature has vested in them. However, men could be stressed because of an inappropriate sex life. In a lot of cases where couples can not bear children, sexual disorders like erectile dysfunction in men is the root cause of the issue. Stress is indeed, both a cause and effect of affected sexual life in men. “Excessive stress is found to reduce the libido in men” (John, 2010). Sexual disorders are often difficult to treat, and affected sex life could be one of the main reasons for tension among married men. Men make use of stress relieving medications to help improve their condition. Many men seek physician’s advice in order to combat sexual disorders. On the other hand, men never become worried for little issues as unfair complexion or pimpled face. Instead, men would be stressed because of unemployment. Even if men are employed, a vast majority of them is stressed because of job dissatisfaction. Job stress can even cause cardiovascular diseases, psychological and musculoskeletal disorders in men (Mckay, 2010). To combat the causes of stress, men commonly regulate their diet and do more physical work and exercise (missionhospitals.org, n.d.). Many men are habitual to smoking. Smoking is indeed, adopted as a means to relieve the daily stress they encounter. Paradoxically, smoking itself becomes the root cause of a lot of troubles in men’s life. For example, smoking causes lung cancer and heart attacks among men. Many men also abandon smoking at a later stage in life because this habit, itself causes a lot of troubles in men’s life. Men are suggested to go for a walk regularly in order to relieve their tension. Physical activity improves the mental condition not only among men but also among women. Conclusion: An in-depth analysis and comparison of the causes of stress generally prevalent among men and women suggests that the former remain worried because of more practical and important reasons than the latter. To read this statement, one would think how can it be decided which gender’s reasons of stress are more important than the other? The answer to this is that it is rational to refer to men’s reasons of stress as more important because they often concern more people than their own self. Men are fundamentally the bread earners for a family. They become worried if they are unemployed not because they need money for their own self alone, but because a certain number of individuals depend upon the man. Women, on the other hand, usually become worried for reasons of little significance. For example, it is not unusual for a woman to become worried if she put on an extra pound of weight. Likewise, women become worried if someone treated them harshly, or spoke to them in a disrespectful way. Women are delicate and their delicacy makes them more susceptible to acquiring stress than men. However, methods to come out of stress are adopted as per the nature and severity of stress.
