Extract of sample "Behavior Plan for a Student"

The function mentioned above was determined by engaging the student in various non-preferred tasks. The level of communication and tolerance to the task was the ultimate determinants of the function.

The antecedent strategies were guiding and rewarding the student before they engaged in non-compliant behavior. This was a strategy to redirect and reinforce the work behavior of the student making him comply with the situation once a task that is not preferred is provided.

The consequence strategy was that the student was constantly rewarded in every situation in which he avoided engaging in the non-compliance task. The consequential rewards were to encourage the continuation of the avoidance behavior.

For every behavior that the student engaged in throughout the day successfully without avoidance or non-compliance, the student was given pennies. The pennies increased as the days went by with good compliant performance on the student’s part and were conditioning his replacement behavior.

Behavior charts were collected daily which indicated the activities of the day and the performance of the student in each activity. It is these daily charts that were examined and used to measure the success of the student (Dougherty, 2012).
