Stress and its relation to emotions Stress is one of the adaptation mechanisms to external influences. Ordinary emotions are replaced by anxiety while people are experiencing stress, and that causes a disturbance in the physiological and psychological terms. Moreover, these stimuli even don’t have to exist in reality. A man reacts not only on the actual danger, but also on the threat or a reminder about it. Personally for me the most usual reason to experience stress is getting bad grades in my classes.

There are distinguished three stages in the stress development. The first stage involves the mobilization of bodys energy resources. Mild stress is useful at this stage, as it leads to efficiency increase. For instance, such state occurs while taking tests, when consciousness ignores the surrounding stimuli. Along with that, on the first phase disappears psychological contact in communication, people stop to look at each and lose the ability to adjust own behavior consciously and intelligently.

Thus, because of the body language teachers may consider that you are not appropriately prepared. And here comes one of the reasons why we fail exams: we turn to be unable to assess critically the quality of the response, as well as the surrounding obstacles. The second phase is resistance, when body reserves are used in balance. Everything looks normal on the first sight and people effectively solve the problems they face. But if this stage lasts for a long time and is not accompanied by relaxation, the body begins to work harder.

The person loses personal effectiveness and self-conscious (full or partial). A person cannot remember what he said and did, and is not aware of own actions. Many notice that under stress they did some actions that in a relaxed atmosphere they would never do. The second stage is characterized by stabilization of all parameters, outputted from the equilibrium (Joe et al., 154). External behavior is not very different from the norm, and it seems as all is getting better, but inwardly adaptation reserves are overrun.

That is the reason why I, as well as other students, sometimes become rude and criticize the teachers. If the stressful situation persists, the third stage – exhaustion- takes place. It may lead to a significant deterioration of health, various diseases and death. A person feels weakness and dramatically increases the risk of disease. In such situation the only way to regain strength is a thorough rest. It is normal to experience guilt in such situation (Joe et al., 156). Personally I feel not just guilty because of my unsufficient knowledge, but I also may fall into tears because of nervous exhaustion and weakness.

I may feel myself as if I had a nightmare which had no end.Still, people under the stress tend to be able to control their emotions, analyze the situation and take appropriate decisions. If stressful situation depends on us, we need to be more rational and focus on how to change the situation. If the situation does not depend on us, it is necessary to accept and change the perception and attitude towards the situation.References1.
