Paragraph 1. What are the two main premises of the argument? The two premises of the argument are The economics of commuter trains are maddening. 2) No single commuter rail system in the US that even manages its expenses out of the firebox (Garreau 1991). What is the conclusion? The conclusion is that “it is very frustrating to justify the commuter rail system as a transportation solution” (Garreau 1991).2. Do you think that the argument fulfills all of the basic requirements of good reasoning?

If not, which requirements does it not fulfill, and why not?An argument that possesses good reasoning should have true premises, the argument itself should be valid, the premises should be relevant with regards to the conclusion, plausible and more so the premises should not beg the question. Therefore, it is true that the argument fulfills the basic requirements of good reasoning.Paragraph 21. What are the two main premises of the argument? The two main premises are “neither parole or probation are justifiable and they fail” (Bidinotto).

What is the conclusion? Based on the above argument, the conclusion implies that parole and probation do not safeguard the safety of the citizens because they are linient methods that fail in reducing inmate recidivism. Furthermore, these justice procedures undermine the full swing of the law on criminals (Bidinotto). 2. Do you think that the argument fulfills all of the basic requirements of good reasoning? If not, which requirements does it not fulfill, and why not?I think that the argument does fulfills the basic requirements of good reasoning because the premises are relevant to the conclusion in the sense that since parole and probation fail, they put the lives of the general public at risk from criminal behavior.

Paragraph 31. What are the two main premises of the argument? Premise 1: “There is no perceptible object that does not consist of a mixture of matter and vacuity”.Premise 2: “The stone partitions of houses are pervious to voices and to the scent and cold and heat of fire, which penetrates also through hard iron" (Lucretius). What is the conclusion? There is extreme looseness of the structure of all objects (Lucretius).2. Do you think that the argument fulfills all of the basic requirements of good reasoning?

If not, which requirements does it not fulfill, and why not?The argument does not contain the basic requirements of good reasoning. This is because the premises beg the question portrayed by them being not interlinked to avoid confusion within the argument.Works CitedJoel Garreau, Edge City: Life on the New Frontier.
