Running head: LEADERSHIP 29th November One of the leadership styles that align with my thought of what leadership skill is the transformative model. This model indicates that as a leader I am supposed to interact with others and have that ability of creating a solid relationship that will ensure that my followers will be experiencing feelings of loyalty and trust. This means that I will have the ability to convince my followers quickly without resistance since they have a high percentage of trust on me. This trust that my followers have in me will result to high level motivation intrinsically and extrinsically. Transformational theory results to leaders transforming their followers through inspirational nature (Griffin, 2002). Additionally, the leaders who are transformative have unique characteristic of charismatic personalities and thus every individual in the society will like to be associated with such leaders. In the transformational theories rules and regulations are not vague rather they are flexible and thus as a leader I will not notice any breaking of rules and regulations. Since rules and regulations are not considered followers are guided by norms which they are used to. The characteristic that exist provides the followers with a sense of belonging since they are easily identified with the entire leadership. My strength as a leader I am a leader who has a lot of confidence in each and every endeavor that I initiate I am a leader who engage others in making decision that touches on any issue that is either negative or positive I am a leader who like negotiation incase of dispute for reconciliation purpose I am committed to justice and moral integrity I am strong and unshakeable when addressing issue that touch individual rights I like corroborating with team members My weakness as a leader Just like any other human being I am weak and emotional incase of challenges As a leader I am impatient when my grievances are not respected I am leader who is suspicious One of the leadership characteristics that I already have is being accountable and thus I am always able to take responsibility for everyone. For example, since I like to intermingle with individuals I am able to monitor and draw the strategies which are used to solve any problem. Accountability as a leadership characteristic if used properly is able to indentify any problem with the followers, then as a leader I am able to seek solution from other leaders and finally find things back on track. Another characteristic of a good leader is honesty. As a leader the way I would like to be treated is the way I am supposed to treat my followers. This means code of ethics must apply so that reliability from the followers will lead to success (Nohria, 2010). Another characteristic of leadership which I posses is inspiration. I like to motivate old and young generation so that they will give their best in their day to day activities. By communicating clearly and meeting with my followers regularly I am able to inspire them by educating them on how goals are set. Setting of high but attainable goals in life should be enhanced and as a leader I always support my team members by providing training and tools that are required to achieve the set goals and targets. \ One of additional leadership characteristic that I would like to develop as indicated by Power Model is expert characteristic which ensures that the experience and skills that I have will be used to help others in the society. The goals of individuals are supposed to be achieved and thus being an expert, I will be able to educate, inform and influence others to transform our community through change in the field of public services. Knowledge is power and the knowledge and experience I have will be used to educate individuals in the society and do things practically so that change is attained in the field of public services. The second additional leadership characteristic which relates to administrative model is providing mentorship. Since individuals in the society need change in field of public services, as a mentor I will be able to educate, guide, inform and influence them so that we can achieve our goals. As a mentor I will be able to offer help or advice my followers so that improvements will be attained through my own skills and experience. My leadership attributes will serve, help, build and maintain the society. For example through inspiration, I will help my society to set attainable goals and expectations. As an inspiration leader one is supposed to communicate clearly and concisely so that the community can build trust on him or her. As an inspiration leader support to the society should be given by ensuring that training and tools that are needed by individuals in the society to attain the goals are provided. As a leader helping the individuals in the society is my key agenda so that they will feel as part and parcel of the community. Another leadership attribute that will help and maintain strong relationship with other communities is awareness which ensures that a leader is aware of all the needs of the community. For example, as a leader I am supposed to know the welfare of other communities so that they will appreciate my servant leadership qualities (Gardner, 2005). As a leader even if I am not going to help other communities their plight should be aired out so that peaceful co-existent is promoted. Honesty is an attribute which should be embraced, not only by the leaders but also by the followers since with honesty, integrity is attained. Honesty will be beneficial to other communities if the leader is given the mandate to transact any business which will mean that the other members of the community have trust on the leader. When dealing with the society, it is important to consider ethical leadership which individual would like to emulate from their leaders. Without ethical leadership portrait, then it would be very hard to guide the community in an effective way. The main tenet of ethical leadership is respect to others. Respect is an effective leadership guide in the field of public services since one’s disrespect will mean that they will not trust their leader and thus interruption will always exist. For example, in the field of public services whenever a leader urges the members to meet, only for the leader to show up late, it implies such leader disrespect his or her followers. As a leader you should set examples. Ideas that public contributes to better the organization should be respected for smooth flow of day to day activities since failure to respect others will lead to mass actions among other happenings (Bill, 2007). The second main tenet of ethical leadership in the field of public service is honesty. Honesty leadership will lead to a culture of honesty while on the other hand; dishonest leaders create a society which will be dishonest. Accountability and transparency as a leader should be the portrait which every leader should have since if one is dishonest in the field of public services he or she will drain all the resources which are set for the public. This will lead to society being left with scars since their resources were used to benefit a leader who did not care for the future generation. Lastly, justice as a tenet of ethical leadership creates a community which likes to be associated with their leaders. For example, when an individual is working hard in the public services he or she should be promoted since he or she is a model leader. In the field of public services, it will create an environment which is conducive and not bias which will lead to individual being part and parcel of the organization. The tenet of diversity in the field of public services leads to acceptance and respect. Diversity indicates that each and every member in the society is unique and all the differences that are recognized should be set a side for the purpose of achieving the goals set. This will mean that race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs and age among others will not be a hindrance of success. Political ideologies should not be used to divide individuals in the field of public services rather it should unite individuals and work harmoniously (Northouse, 2013). Converging and working together for attainment of goals is the best in the field of public services. On the other hand tenets of inclusion in the field of public services need to be incorporated into effective public services leadership. This means that one should be included in the field of public services to take his or her part so that improvement will be noticed. Each and every individual is unique and when it comes to matters of planning and decision making one can contribute to better the public services that later will lead to achievement of goals. My personal and academic experience will contribute to and guide development as an effective leader by ensuring that I will be able to lead others by being fair, just and respectful. These are ethical leadership skills that are gained academically since I will emulate the tutors who are always with us when impacting new skills in life. Honesty is my personal and academic experience which I have acquired from the university since I am able to do my work without being forced or copying from other student. Honesty is not something which is inherited but rather it is a personal attribute which individual decides to impact in one’s life. This means that as a leader I will be honest by being transparent and accountable to the public since it is an attribute which I am used to right from childhood. Since I have trust with myself, in my academic endeavors I will be able to implement change and be a change agent in the society so that life will have a difference from those leaders who do not have high profile of education background. This will make a difference in leadership since all the skills needed as a leader will be impacted on me and thus development will be easily planned and later implemented accordingly.
