The case of David presents a scenario of oversensitivity towards non-verbal language. This reflects significant deficiency in perceiving verb al language. His feelings are subject to a rare observation in which facial expression and related sign language holds key to his general behavior. His behavior explores the concept of cognitive inefficiency that can be addressed through intensive psychotherapeutic approach. His near perfect work which is recommended for intellectual discourse shows that David has mental problem towards perceiving mostly non-verbal communication.

Signs and symptoms of his condition can be seen in oversensitive feelings towards non-verbal language. For instance, people’s faces, movement of the body among other significantly alter his behavior at a greater rate (Widiger, 2012). The social interaction of David is significantly affected with such a condition and an appropriate remedial measure is necessary. The diagnosis process and tool recommended for David’s case is Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). This is more effective in indicating the imbalanced cognitive characteristic of David.

It lists psychological disorders and offers an in-depth remedial measure that is slow but effective in the end. It is a multidimensional approach that emphasizes the expertise of psychotherapy to address such conditions. This diagnostic concept is universally accepted and is in its latest editions by America psychological association. As a therapist, this psychological condition can be addressed through gradual psychotherapy. This would constitute engaging David in verbal communication environment while limiting non-verbal communication tools (Widiger, 2012).

The overall effect of systematic planning that constitutes cognitive reorganization would achieve better results to the case of David.ReferenceWidiger, T. A. (2012). The Oxford handbook of personality disorders. Oxford: Oxford University Press.
