Summary Summary Chapter 4 The first article addresses issues of motivation. It highlights the theory of motivation.Some of the factors that lead to motivation of individual are analyzed. One of the factors is the basic needs. The needs are said to be the starting point for individual motivation. Lack of such needs is said to lead to individual developing appetite or hunger in the body for such needs. The needs are said to be psychological and most important of all other needs. Failure to satisfy the basic needs leads makes organisms be dominated by them.

However, satisfaction of these needs makes a person to look for higher needs. The second needs are said to be safety needs. These are meant in offering security or making an individual feel secure. The person in this stage is described as a safety seeking mechanism. Satisfaction of these needs leads to the next level. The next level is described as the belongingness and love needs. Individual in this stage focuses more on love and companionship. The person will strive for affectionate relationship with the general population such as place of work and family.

Such person will also put more effort to achieve such goals. The next level is on esteem needs. The needs are categorized into two. First, they are said to be needs of issues such as the desire for strength, achievement, and confidence. On the other hand, individuals desire for higher achievement such as higher status in society, control, and appreciation. The grasp of these needs leads to a higher level of needs. The level is known as the need for self-actualization. The level is stated as the peak of a person life.

at this level, an individual seeks to get the character the are ideal in nature. A reflection on this article has disclosed several things on individual motivation. It is clear that person life is led by several levels of motivation. It is also great how satisfaction in one level makes an individual to change his desires. As a result, it is clear that individual life is characterized by struggle to get better things in life. In addition, I agree that the realization of basic needs sets foundation for individual to look for another fulfillment in life.

Chapter 5The section highlights how a small need gains priority when a person achieves gratification of great needs. Relative gratification is aid to set ground for the next higher set of needs. Satisfaction of one need sets leads to hunger for the next step of needs. It also notes that satisfaction on nay need occurs at the expense of forgetting such a need and focus on a higher need. On the other hand, only satisfiers themselves are said to lead to needs gratification. The satisfaction is said to be achieved through learning.

Moreover, need gratification are said to shape one character, for example, frustration from failure to get need can make a person hostile. On the other hand, the level of gratification is also said to have an influence on ones health. Lastly, it is said that achieving higher level may make one forget the level a person passed through.In this chapter, I have realized how gratification in one level may make one forget the importance of such lower level. Moreover, I have realized how gratification may shape one character, health, and behavior.
