Clinical Psychology The movie, Blue Is the Warmest Color, is a new age romantic drama. The plot of the movie is based on a love story of a teenage French girl with a blue haired painter girl. The movie is based on a French noble with the same title. This movie is mainly featured on the Lesbian culture, most debated in the modern society. The movie has also been debated and criticized amid the experts of the industry but was able to receive the prestigious award of Palme dOr in the 2013 Cannes Film Festival owing to its huge figure of sales.

While the movie contains many sexually exciting scenes, criticisms were also drawn that those scenes were a stronger motivator than the actual plot of the story, which in turn increased its sales (You Tube, “Blue Is the Warmest Color”). Released in 2013, the movie starred Léa Seydoux and Adèle Exarchopoulos as the lesbian protagonists of the story. However, astonishingly, neither of these characters is known to be homosexual. It can be argued in this context that if the director had any intention to attract the viewers by provoking them showing porn scenes, he would have starred homosexual actresses rather than heterosexual professionals who spared a considerable chance of discomfort, affecting the smoothness of the story.

Although most people might have purchased the ticket to enjoy the porn scenes but there were majority as well, who loved the plot of the story. Undoubtedly, critics in film festivals and have credited the story as quite intriguing and strong wherein the desires and romantic feelings of a young teenage girl has been portrayed succinctly. Hence, it is quite likely that the movie was a success in terms of sales not because of its pornographic categories but because of its story, which was enriched by the heterosexual actresses in the lead role.
