 Concepts for Prevention ConflictPublic goods dilemma are the real life decisions that an individual makes and the outcome depends on all the involved parties. This decision is also called a public good since individuals must weigh their personal interests against those of the collective interest. Common dilemmas refer to the social dilemma in which people`s short term goal are at conflict with the long term interests of a group or the collective interests. The main difference between public good dilemmas and common dilemmas is that public good dilemmas strive to benefit all the involved parties regardless of whether they contributed to its inception or not.

While, in common dilemmas, selfish interests take precedence over the greater good in order to accomplish short-term goals or satisfy their own selfish interests (Aronson, 2013). School shootings are on the increase across the world with incidents being reported from the United States to Russia. They are mostly occurring in schools whereby a student opens fire on his fellow students, killing and injuring them. There are varieties of reasons that may motivate such actions. They can range from psychological problems to the thrill of killing.

There are ways in which the schools, parents and teachers can help stop these tragedies. For example, the schools should set up guidance and counseling sessions every week and also check what the students bring to school in their bag packs. The school should also report any cases of misbehavior of students to their parents. Parents should counsel their children on the dangers of possession and usage of guns. They should also limit the sites their children visit on the internet since it is full of harmful information that is easily available.

The authorities should also come in and arrest individuals with unregistered guns and visit schools to give talks on the dangers of guns. Violent video games should be banned or age restricted to individuals who are responsible since young children and teenagers get the wrong ideas after watching or playing these games (Böckler, 2013).
