Human sensory and motor functions Human sensory and motor functions Human sensory and the motor functions is ultimate process through which animals and humans use their neuromuscular system to illicit coordination among muscles and limb that results to a motor function. It is a combination of several sensory information surrounding the bodies, that determine the desired set of muscle forces and joint activation to bring about an appropriate action (Dotson, 1997). It largely involves coordination between the central nervous system and the musculoskeletal system, and therefore successful motor control is of importance in interaction with world through balance and stability as well as determining desired action capabilities (Gilman, 2002).

Perception in motor control is of great essence as it enables important information about the surrounding objects, environments and bodies to be used in executing actions and movements. There is an ongoing debate in the field of developmental neuroscience about the importance of activity-dependent processes (Dotson, 1997). There is a relatively delayed rate of human development of the brain as compared with the rest of the animals. The constant interaction of the infant with the environment helps sculpt various connections within the cortex which eventually results in a highly specialized adult brain (Gilman, 2002).

The available theory suggests that human infants are usually born with the ability to sense a number of stimuli, and as they grow older, they selectively start narrowing these perceptions by classifying them in a way that correlates to their social and cultural life. This gives them the advantage that enables them to adopt things they deem as necessary and ignore things that they don’t find necessary in their life (Dotson, 1997). Though, it may represent a disadvantage where an individual ignores an important aspect in life and adopts unnecessary ones which lead to varying interests and behaviors which can not be acceptable in the specific social setting (Gilman, 2002).

The understanding of human development is a field which is largely under various studies to enable scientists understand how and what illicit the various development stages of the human brain, which can hence lead to a better understanding of human brain functioning.AdvantagesHaving a competent human sensory and motor function that wok hand in hand is a very important unit that helps humans in moving away from dangerous objects. Once the body senses harmful stimuli, it is the work of the senses to inform the muscles to move away from the stimuli.

Disadvantages The motor and sensory unit is disadvantageous as they tend to work together, hence, an action in one always stimulate an action in the other. In case they are separated, the body cannot function at that state and various injuries can be sustained without proper reflexes.ReferencesDotson RM. (1997).
