Personal Statement Example

I am an experienced counselor who has worked with individuals from low socioeconomic and diverse background and individuals in the crisis such as suicidal ideation, grieving, homelessness and mental illness. I have been involved in group sessions where I used various counseling theories to assist in overcoming drug addiction, adjusting to life and making changes. Additionally am experienced in carrying out community outreaches, psychiatric emergency services, interviews, screening and psychiatric assessments.

I also have good skills in developing strategies for clients and devising an appropriate intervention plan with community services. I am a team player who associates out well with people as I fully understand the importance of good relations in my work. I am also passionate and take initiative that is an important trait for a manager.Most recently, I worked with Family Empowerment Atlantic County as a present Masters Prepared in Home Therapist. I was engaged in providing, in-home therapy that is structured and consistent with the purpose of meeting the youth’s behavioral needs and improving the family’s ability to provide effective support.

I have also been part of Atlantic are Regional Medical Center as a Present Masters Prepared Psychiatric Counselor. My personal and professional experience makes me a good fit for this program at the managerial post. Throughout the years I have carried out several activities involving behavioral health care such as alcohol and other drugs addiction, mental health, psychosocial rehabilitation, and family services. I am a team player who associates out well with people as I fully understand the importance of good relations in my work.

I am also passionate and take initiative that is an important trait for a manager.In integrated behavioral health care, the health care corresponds with primary medical care. Outdated patient care involved different health professionals working separately on the same patient. For instance, mental health practitioners, worked separately from medical personnel. Integrated behavioral health care bridges the gap between behavioral and medical treatment. For example, a skin cancer patient may experience depression thus need for care from both sides.

The system is characterized by a high level of teamwork and communication between the health personnel. The team includes physicians, nurses, and psychologists among other health professionals depending on the requirements of the patient. Integrated healthcare has a number of advantages to both the practitioners and the patients. Research based evidence indicates that it is helpful in lowering depressive symptoms. The availability of behavioral and primary care providers in one setting improves access to healthcare services as well as enhancing quality of services offered and lowering the general healthcare cost.

However, integrated health care may be faced by a number of challenges. The general cost of implementation is high and some countries may not be able to successfully execute the programs. My professional career goals include achieving high performance metrics and improving my personal and professional skills. A managerial integrated healthcare position will enable me move a notch higher in my profession. As a manager, I will have the capacity to facilitate counseling session to patients and other health care providers, as well as implementation and assessment of my team and patient outcomes.

As a manager, I will be liable for coordinating all the activities of behavioral care providers.
