1004862 - COGNITIVE NEUROPSYCHOLOGY AND NEUROSCIENCE • Research rationale The neurological system and for that matter the nervous system and its anatomical composition have been found to be highly instrumental in the overall functioning of the body. In most cases however, the neurological system and its functions are limited to physical activities of the body such as movement, sight and hearing (quote). However, a new line of studies have tried to explain that the neurological system goes beyond the physical functioning of the body in to other aspects of activities such as psychological activities (quote). This research is thus worth exploring as a means of understanding how the structure and function of the neurological system relates to very specific psychological processes and this cognitive neuropsychology. • Aims The current is being proposed as means of achieving two major aims with specific reasons 1. To identify the anatomical components of the neurological system that is specifically responsible for the psychological processes experienced in the body. The reason for this aim is to help the researcher develop an idea about those organs and systems of the body that need to be particularly monitored against diseases and other forms of dysfunctions that can hinder success cognitive processing from taking place in the body. 2. To investigate various human recognition processes that are based on neuropsychological methods such as brain pathology, recording, stimulation or imaging. Knowing these human recognition processes would help give much emphasis to the right approach to dealing with various neuropsychological detects that the body experiences. • Hypothesis H1: Adults suffering from disorder of cognition can be helped to succeed in attaining complete skills in higher level cognitive domain through the use of cognitive neuropsychology skills nurturing. H2: Cognitive neuropsychologists can only improve cases of acquired disorder of cognition, which constitutes the loss of some or all of skills in cognitive domain that had been fully acquired earlier. • Research questions 1. In what ways does acquired disorder of cognition differ from disorder of cognition? 2. How do the differences in level of cognitive domain in acquired disorder of cognition and disorder of cognition hinder the success of cognitive neuropsychologists in restoring cognitive neuropsychological skills in patients? 3. How can computational modeling of cognition be employed in treating cases and patients with cognitive neuropsychological dysfunctions? 4. How does the understanding of the anatomical composition of the neurological system come to play in activities of cognitive neuropsychologists? • Theoretical framework: A statement and justification of the conceptual tool that you will use to analyse your evidence. • Sources/Resources required: What evidence or data do you need to find? • Methods: How will you get your evidence/data? How will you analyse it? Why is this the most appropriate way of gathering the evidence for your thesis? • Ethics: Are there ethical problems with your proposed research strategy (e.g. acquisition and use of data issues; confidentiality; cultural issues; accountability)? How will you address them? • Strategies for overcoming possible problems. • Intended Structure of Dissertation: How do you intend to organise the dissertation? How many sections will it have? Why? • Work schedule: A timeline of tasks that structures your work between completing the proposal and the date of submission. Read More
