The goal is to guide and monitor her on food and exercise with the help of a dietician.Strategies, Timing and Responsibility – The First StageSarah and her family will be referred to a psychologist at Family First Psychology Services located close to her home. This will enable her family to actively offer much needed care and attention to the client and this will enable the client to develop skills to cope with feelings, interact with others, and stay away from drugs.

According to researchers, the main reasons for drug abuse in teens are negative feelings, social and family rejection, and the need for social rewards (Kuntsche, Knibbe, Gmel & Engels, 2005). So, the client’s entire family will be given counseling on how to deal with the issue. Sarah is found chemically addicted to drug. So, she will be referred for medical detoxification through inpatient treatment at the mental health services department for one month followed by outpatient treatment. Sarah will be assisted by a dietitian in organizing her food and maintaining health for the entire six month.

There will be close monitoring by the case manager who will visit the client and her family every week for a month. The case manager will assess the mental state and behavioral pattern of the client and the involvement of the family in the treatment. The end of the first month will be followed by a reassessment of the needs.Strategies, Timing and Responsibility – The Second StageThe second stage starts when the client is free from chemical addiction to drug and when the family is found to be cooperative to the entire process.

In the second stage which starts after a month, the case manager focuses more on helping Sarah develop new interests, socialize, and be in the company of positive people. The case manager will continue visiting the client every month at her home and monitor the changes for the entire period.
