Aggression & Pro-Social Behavior Module Module ID: Reasons behind the children’s aggressivebehavior towards their age-fellows: It has aptly been observed that different individuals demonstrate quite divergent attitude towards others while entering into interaction with them at various occasions; the same is also applied to the children as well, where they appear to be displaying anger, love, kindness and resentment towards the fellow children. However, some of the children appear to be more aggressive than their coevals, and always exhibit aggression in their behavior at large.

The psychologists have defined various reasons behind such an attitude. One of the most dominant causes behind such non-compliant and unpleasant behavior includes the sense of deprivation they undergo includes the violation they have been being inflicted at domestic scale, which appears in their behavior while treating the persons of either they age or below, in order to pacify their frustration and irritation eventually (Huang et al., 2010). Consequently, one of the most effective options for decreasing the magnitude of aggression in children includes providing an amicable, affectionate and pleasant environment to them in order to avoid any violent behavior in their attitude.

Secondly, the children should also be treated with complete concentration at home and school; and they should be provided with equal opportunities of exercising their talents and abilities, so that their attention could be diverted to creative and constructive ways in order to mitigate aggression in their personality. Parents’ responsibility in the Children’s Aggressive Behavior:The theorists pay due heed to declaring nurture theory as vital in the socialization process and learning behavior of the children (Londhe, 2011).

They are of the opinion that the acts of the children serve as the reflection of the environment they have obtained socialization (Anderson, 1990). It is therefore the parents (and/or guardians) should be held responsible for every ill-will appears in the attitude of the innocent children. Somehow, some theorists, particularly Lombroso and others, view innate personality traits liable for every performance made by the young ones. Since the children of one and the same biological parents observe quite divergent behavior in their routine activities, so it is not parents to get blamed for the wrong-doings made by their children.

On the contrary, children themselves appear to be responsible for their misbehavior and aggressive attitudes at large.Pro-Social Behavior: I personally have a pro-social behavior in my life last days, when I had to visit a hospital in order to see one of my colleagues admitted at there. After attending the colleague, I came out of the emergency ward, where I found an old woman and her daughter wandering here and there in need of some help. There was such a misery and depth of worries on their faces that I could not resist myself from stopping to enquire about their worries.

There could be witnessed expressions of pleasant surprise on their countenances, and they informed me about the kidney dialysis the old lady underwent after every fortnight. She asked me to seek support of some governmental or non-government agencies that could provide her with financial and medical support in this regards. Since one of my old classmates was serving as social medical officer at there, I led them to her, and urged her to help her in her convalescence. Somehow, the problems mentioned by my classmate in respect of providing the old woman with proper financial support created disturbance for me, as there was according to her a long list of the needy already on the medical panel.

Somehow, I offered the patient some amount of money so that she could escape financial worries. a) Empathy-altruism hypothesis:Empathy-altruism hypothesis submits to state that it is not necessary that every act is conducted with the motive of obtaining gains out of it (Batson et al., 1991). On the contrary, some acts are performed without any greed altogether just for the sake of personal happiness. For instance, offering the needy and orphans with the moral or financial support is aptly observed just for extracting spiritual pleasures and mental satisfaction out of it. (b) Negative-state Relief: Negative-state relief model submits to state that the humans maintain an innate tendency of relieving the tensions of others by providing them with peace and support in one way or the other.

Hence, turning the moods of others to be pleasant serves as a part of human nature. The people create amusements, and stop at the eve of accidents etc just to offer their services to strangers, which not only comes under the definition of pro-social behavior, but also makes the mood of other pleasant. (c). Empathetic Joy:Empathetic joy is of the view that helping others without any greed or expectations fills the heart of humans with unabated joys (Batson et al., 1991). It is therefore the people start offering help to the strangers at the eve of accidents or collapses, as well as the flood, earthquake and Tsunami etc victims without attaining any financial gains altogether. (d) Genetic Determinism: The notion genetic determinism argues that human genes contain some specific traits and characters, which are transferred from one generation to the other subsequently, and distinguish the families from one another.

It is therefore, different people observe different behavior in their life. Some of the individuals are kind and compassionate, while others are violent and aggressive.
