It uses psychological literature in highlighting the effects of homesickness on migrant workers. The effects that the article focuses on are such as psychological disruptions which in turn have negative impacts on the performance of work. It puts a focus on the models that can be used in dealing with homesickness (Hack 63).

3. What was the main research question addressed in the article? Why was this research carried out?
The main research question in this research paper is to what extent preparation before migration affects the development of homesickness (Hack 70). The research was carried out to find out if moving away from homemade people feels homesick. It indicated the effects of having or lacking preparation before migration on having homesickness.

4. Who were the participants and what type of procedure did they undergo?
The participants were 15 company expatriates and 30 migrant workers. They went through interviewing as the procedure. Two migrants and one expatriate was the leader of the others. Contacts that were obtained through the original interviewees mostly were from networks that were immediate to them. The expatriates and migrants were used in order to contrast their experiences. They went through interviews that were unstructured and asked questions about homesickness.

5. What type of analysis did the authors conduct and what did they conclude?
The authors carried out an analysis on the reasons for individual’s relocation, the preparation before departure, the encounter the participants had with their country, and any existing issues with their settlement. They carried out an analysis on the homesickness experiences the participants had from the early period when they arrived. From the analysis, they conducted they concluded that all migrants had felt some sickness at some time because of a combination of factors that led to the development of homesickness. They also concluded that if a multiple combinations of these factors takes place disease is aggravated thus causing deterioration of the workers with time.
