The three Domains of Development The three Domains of Development A critical analysis of human development plays a vital role in maintaining the quality of life. Scholarly research depicts three types of domains that encompass the world of development. These domains include cognitive, biosocial, and psychological development. It is essential to note that each domain plays its own significant role in human development. Biosocial development entails the study of the body structure, its parts, and subsequent functions. On the other hand, cognitive development enables an individual to understand and appreciate the different stages of learning. On the other hand, psychological development covers the circumstances perceived by an individual during the stressful moments in life. This paper depicts in depth an interview conducted to Luis aged 39 years in order to affirm the three domains of development (Berger, 2011). In his middle age, Luis has different biosocial developments that have an impact in his health. Some of the evident changes experienced by Luis include slight wrinkles upon his face, fuller body, and thinning hair. According to Luis, his visibility is an issue of concern. He faces challenges regarding his eyesight since as days go by, his eyes become weak. He finds it hard to see well during the night or in areas with dim light. Persistent questioning depicted that he suffered from Glaucoma, a disease whereby pressure builds up in eyes due to poor drainage of fluids. In most cases, people suffering from this disease end up becoming blind in their middle ages. Age-related declines in BMR are often common for older people. Evidently, Luis possesses deposits of fat upon his upper abdomen and back. Luis suggested that he had changed his diet since he no longer went for physical practices. It is important to note that during middle age, an individual ought to change their eating diet and consume foods with lower calories. Contrary, people who often stick to high-calorie foods end up acquiring diseases such as blood pressure, diabetes, and heart attack. According to the interview made, Luis explained that occurs he felt body weakness and could no longer carry out the heavy manual duties he always performed. This situation occurs due to lose of mineral content making the bones weak and porous. A reproductive interview to Luis confirmed that he no longer maintains an arousal and more so, it takes him too much effort to get an arousal. This has resulted in his purchase of Viagra that increases blood flow to the penis thus enabling an effective arousal and a consequent sexual satisfaction. Most importantly, these dysfunctions often occur in men who posses high drinking habits. Luis, who said that he was greatly affected to alcohol, fell a victim of circumstances. A Psychological interview depicted that Luis possessed a lot temper that he finds it hard to maintain. He explained that some of the psychological changes that occurred to him included impatience, dissatisfaction in things, depression, critical attitudes in social interactions, and angry outbursts. He further explained how he found himself often reprimanding an individual due to any slight mistake done. In most cases, men are affected by these hostile behaviors and thus prone to diseases such as heart attack and frequent depressions (Berger, 2011). In order to manage stress, Luis depicted that he daily tries his best to control his emotions and enhance good relationship with other people. In addition, he goes to a secluded area where he settles his mind from the life hassles. Managing psychological development is challenging and thus an individual has to face commitment. Different people suffer from different psychological disorders in society. Therefore, it is essential for any individual with a psychological problem to possess a positive perception and try as much as possible to cope up with the problem. Every aging person has to undergo cognitive development. People at their middle age fail to use some of the vital abilities required to keep them fit in their daily lives. One of the changes in cognitive development is changes in the mental ability and intelligence. As evidenced from the interview, Luis said that he no longer maintained a sharp memory and often he found himself forgetting even the obvious and daily practices. Moreover, he could not tackle a problem or answer an obvious question with the intended skills. This justified that he possessed crystallized intelligence whereby an individual’s memory got lost due to consistent addition of skills and knowledge in leisure activities and at work. On the other hand, another type of mental disability under cognitive development that occurs to the middle age people is fluid intelligence. This occurs in situations whereby an individual looses the required speed in performing a task. Most importantly, people at their middle age decline in their creativity ability and this makes them slow learners. Their concentration power also decreases making it difficult for them to concentrate intensely in a task (Berger, 2011). In most cases, people in their middle age find it hard to cope up with family members due to their significant changes. Frequent quarrels and harsh tempers create an increasing gap between them and the family. In some cases, people may tend to take a divorce in order ease up the situation. The interview confirmed that Luis recently had a divorce due to his high temper and dysfunction of his reproductive system. This made his wife give up in him and ask for a divorce. Although it is a hard situation, people who fall victims under this circumstance often take heart and move on with their lives. Some people in their middle age become reluctant in their careers and become incapable of achieving their future goals. Moreover, some lose their responsibility and commitments in society. In conclusion, it is important to note that cognitive, psychological, and biosocial developments have adverse effects on middle age people. As evidenced by the interview conducted on Luis, middle age is a stage in life that requires considerable approach. Every individual ought to become prepared in the life ahead. Most importantly, an individual should appreciate the different changes that occur in his/her life and learn to live with them positively in society (Berger, 2011). References Berger, K. (2011).
