Being able to make them accept the fact that they may still be able to do their everyday routine and yet, they are considering going through depression is the key to meaningful learning of the psychological condition. This is because of the fact that once people learn to grasp this, they will understand the necessity for them to talk to professionals about whatever they are going through, more willing to go through tests, and even take medications if needed which are the basic necessities for battling depression. Success stories of people who have undergone depression have a lot to do with patients who are willing to help themselves.

Internal organization is the next step one would need to establish to be able to maximize the engagement of the group. This would entail a clear point by point discussion of what depression really is and the significant steps to overcome this evil. Some of which would be to lay down the probable causes of depression that people may overlook such as perhaps an unhealthy relationship with a spouse, not taking care of oneself physically, a stressful environment and etc. Aside from that, it is important to give them simple and yet easy steps that they can do to be victorious over depression every single day. Setting goals on what one wants to be or where one wants to go after this is important so one would look forward to something instead of drowning oneself with depressing thoughts. Aside from that, sleep and exercise are the easiest way to feel good as they will bring immediate physical rejuvenation. Forgiveness, when kept makes depression cut deeper is an important point to tackle. Lastly, knowing the importance and being committed to a support group or friends is an effective way to not go back to the hole one once have fallen into (Dealing with Depression: Self-Help and Coping Tips, n.d.).

All these insightful topics should be elaborated not only through principles but could be more understood through sharing of personal experiences and an open forum that would benefit everyone as they would get answers to questions from different perspectives. Also, engaging them in activities that would support the following ways to overcome depression such as letting go of a balloon with all of one’s hurts and problems in life written in it, saying out loud what hurts them and finally let their hearts out, and etc. would really help.

Visual imagery is one that would sustain their victory over depression, where they can be made to carry pictures of things that would inspire them or remind them of who they would want to be in the future is a great motivator to move past all the hurt and focus on the steps they would take to reach that goal for a better and happier life.
