Social Psychology EssayInterpersonal attractions are the distinct attraction processes that results from two couples liking each other, thus ending into a romantic relationship or being friends. The process brings forth the understanding of somaticattraction. James and Rose started dating when they were in high school until they developed an intimate relationship. When I interviewed the couples, they both revealed that their personal relationships resulted because of the force, which acted upon them, thus drew them together.

However, some qualities made them like each other, which involve social reinforcement, familiarity and physical attraction. Lynn and Young (34) argue that some factors such as propinquity effect, physical attractiveness, reinforcement, familiarity and reciprocal liking contributes to interpersonal attraction.Some couples develop interpersonal attraction differently.James and Rose explained that, their relationship was a result of different aspects including familiarity, physical appearances and attitudes.

This is what Sternberg’s triangular model of love explains as love, which encompasses the feeling of closeness and connectedness. Their love developed due to force of love that drew them together. According to Lynn and Young (72), interpersonal attraction produces various types of love, which may include romantic, compassionate or fatuous love. The cycle of love takes varied stages, which begins from falling in love to marital satisfaction or dissolution, which is the final stage.Having met in high school, James and Rose became familiar to each other, and they started developing force with the physical attraction drawing them close to each other until they developed an intimate relationship.

After falling in love, in which they felt intimacy, their love turned into a complete love that made them commit to each other. They stayed together for a while, and the passion disappeared; hence, started developing companionate love. However, the intimacy level dropped, and they started feeling an empty love; thus, the only component left was to commit themselves to each other. Eventually, dissolution occurred and their relationship ended; thus, they could no longer commit to each other anymore.
