The toy stores and online vending stores have different categories for their toys. The various sections that exist in these stores are the sections for purchasing boy toys, sections for purchasing girl toys, and the unbiased section that holds gender-neutral toys such as games and puzzles.

Barbie and G.I. Joe are the commonest toys that demonstrate gender stereotyping, and gender differences within the children’s world. This demonstrates the concept of combat and conquest for boys while the girls are assigned the roles that are usually associated with femininity. The commonest roles awarded to girls as per the toys are cleaning up, cooking,g and raising children. Toys that belong to girls are usually associated with pink color since it is assumed that people of the female gender prefer pink color. In contrast, most toys that belong to the male gender have a blue color. The color and toy categories demonstrate the way society awards gender roles at a tender age presenting the subject of gender stereotyping (Chrisler & McCrear, 2009).

From the nurture perspective, it is thought that gender emanates from environmental influences (Richard, 2005). Environmental influences engross how individuals are treated by the society around them. From the nature perspective, gender emanates from the influences brought about by hormonal changes during development (Richard, 2005). This instigates the growth of different genitalia in the child. Regarding social role conjecture, various gender roles have been awarded as per gender differences (Eckes & Trautner, 2000).
