Adolescent Behavior Adolescent Behavior In APA Style Adolescent Behavior 2 Adolescence is the stage of discovery in everyone’s life and it happens during the teenage years – 13 to 19. People in this stage explore different aspects of their life; e.g. sexuality, orientation, values, etc. Since this is the time when people try to discover the world outside, different concerns arise during this stage: peer pressure, drugs addiction, alcoholism, sexuality issues, etc. An interview was conducted to two adolescents, a boy (17) and a girl (19), about their ways of dealing with adults.

Per the boy (17), he deals with adults depending on the age of the adult. If the person he is dealing with falls under the age of his parents, he is upfront and straightforward while if the person is someone who can be compared to his grandparents, he is more attached to his sensitivity and careful with his words to lessen the chances of offending the person. On the other hand, the girl (19) says she deals with adults depending on how they deal with her. Although she claims that she has equal respect to everyone, per her, she gives them what they deserve.

She also adds that she has little patience during her periods, especially when she was younger. According to studies, in a world that observes diversity, people more empowered and opinionated. (Devore, 2006, 120) This reflects on the interview conducted, although, it may not be considered as a general fact, due to the number of participants, both of the adolescents seem to have an opinion of their own. They seem to have brought up well by professional parents who also observe diversity, which could be the reason behind their being confident and vocal.

Understanding adolescents may not be an easy thing to, due to many factors, it is essential that we understand them in order for us to keep a good relationship to one another. They are the booming future generation and should be honed well for a better tomorrow. ReferenceDevore, D. M. (2006). Parent-child relations: New research. New York: Nova Science Publishers.
