Social climate, wherein the perception of quality within the organization can become an informal social control mechanism that influences employee behavior.

Transformational leadership is a means to influence and motivate employees to overcome effort aversion and melioration bias. It emphasizes that leadership is a critical factor in quality assurance and improvement.

These elements are not part of the control theory but are external factors that influence employee behavior. Control theory on the other hand provides the basic framework to understand employee action/ behavior based on the feedback loop. Again, due to the small sample size, convenience sample, and effect of confounding factors, these results have to be viewed with caution before they can be used as a means to explain human motivation.

There were two interesting aspects of the study:
Firstly, group quality climate is a very important factor in employee behavior.
Secondly, transformational leadership can significantly reduce quality damaging behaviors in employees and therefore influence quality assurance and improvement.
