Motivation and Emotion Introduction: Motivation and emotion both are psychological issues one being a process while the later being a feeling. Both these factors are associated with each other since they work together in influencing a human being to perform an act. Several theories have been prepared by different experts on the close association of emotion with motivation (Maitland, 2009, p.146). This report focuses on a study to learn the relationship between the factors of motivation and emotion.

Motivation and its Association with Emotion: Motivation and emotion are highly associated with one another. It has been observed that emotions are either positively or negatively influenced. Motivational processes are involved in the accomplishments of individual goals of human beings. The achievement or failure of such goals reflects the emotions of the individual. For example, positive emotions would be encouraged if goals are satisfied while in case of a failure in the achievement of goals, the individual might have negative emotional feelings.

Thus emotions can be found to be dependent on motivation factors to a large extent (Pashler & Medin, 2004, p.436). Motivation and emotion are closely related to the individual and his surroundings. While emotion describes how the individual feels about an act or a performance, motivation decides on how the individual reacts to a particular circumstance. These two factors have a relationship since assessments of different situations tend to determine the actions that an individual would follow to achieve his goals (Parkinson & Colman, 1995).

An individual may get motivated through different ways and every individual may have different factors that can motivate them, for example, one may like to read books very much, thus reading well written books might motivate him. The emotions of an individual are dependent on how motivations can facilitate in succeeding or failing in a particular work influencing positive or negative emotions. Conclusion: From the above study, it can be clearly understood that an individual’s performance is greatly dependent on the motivation factors that can influence him and his emotions are associated with such factors achieving positive or negative emotional feelings.
