Mental processes cannot be measured using any means as it happens inside the mind and moreover, no science has yet to be capable of explaining the mechanisms or engineering of mental processes. On the other hand, the behavior is the outcome of mental processes which is visible and measurable. Psychology is interested in both behavior and mental activities since both are related to each other. As mentioned earlier behavior cannot exist in the absence of mental processes and both occur knowingly and unknowingly.

Mental processes can happen both consciously and unconsciously. Same way behaviors also can be deliberate and accidental. For example, most of the mental processes of a psychologically disordered person happen unconsciously. Same way behaviors of such persons are also unpredictable. In short, psychology is the study of mind and behavior. Moreover, behaviors are the outcome of mental processes.
