My Ability to Conduct Research as a Scholar Practitioner - Essay Example

The knowledge I have enables me to know that I should come up with my research design before the actual study (Creswell, 2012). Thus, I will be able to plan my research so that when it comes down to doing it, I am well aware of the different phases to be followed in order to come up with correct findings that can be used to effect social change in my area of practice. My ability to conduct research will be an added advantage as I will be able to plan way ahead of execution and this will ensure that I meet deadlines.

An understanding of ethical and professional standards will be a plus in my endeavors, as I will be able to ascertain that I follow all the guidelines and rules set out for my research to be accepted by the concerned parties. As a great scholar who is in touch with research design and prowess in conducting research I will be able to convince the society to change for the better as they will have faith in my findings as I will put their needs first to see to it that my researches are directed to improving their well being.

I will achieve this by maintaining integrity and this will translate to me ensuing that I release accurate results to initiate the required social change. The Psychology Theories/ Studies I have used various studies from this course in my everyday life, and I have to say that leadership and decision-making has been very instrumental in my engagements with different people. As a team leader in my discussion group, I have used various strategies as the leader to ensure that there is a smooth flow of activities and learning in our group.

I have come to learn that allowing flexibility in the group is important to successful completion of tasks as it makes all members be productive by airing their views for discussion after which a sound agreement is made. My notion before was that I should make all the decisions in the group as the leader which did not usually end up well. I will apply the leadership skills I learnt in the studies in my workplace and ensure that I give my subordinates the chance to get involved in decision-making.

This is because it gives opportunity for discussions and the result of this is better decisions, which are accepted by everyone and eliminates conflict. In the event of a conflict I have learnt that coming to agreement is easy as long as there is communication and all the issues relating to the conflict are brought to the table and as a mediator ensure that I am neutral so that there is an acceptable outcome. I feel that all the topics were well covered and this course was a good foundation to my career path.

Critique I agree with my colleague on how he approached the discussion by first referring to the course objectives as this also worked with e as I was able know which aspects of the course were covered and which ones were not. I was fascinated with leadership just like my colleague and I agree that the course objectives are aligned to the professional goals of anyone aspiring to venture into leadership in any field. The course impacts leadership skills that are vital in ensuring that one is ready to get into their leadership roles with ready solutions I the everyday challenges in the work environment.

I felt that the course on leadership was very relevant as touched on the real life experiences and how to use various theories and ways of leading teams in the effort of achieving the set ends.
