Adults' participation in children's sports activities may result in measures that are not oriented toward young participants. Most of adults organized sports are run in an authoritarian manner which is not good for the youths since youth need to be given chance to express their views and opinions (Berk, 2004). Parents constantly attended training and competitions of there children to ensure that they are trained well and support them during competitions. Most of the children dislike regular presence of there parents during training and competitions; they want to have time with their friends away from their parents.
Some parents may shout and said inappropriate things to their children, other athletes, coaches and referees; this will make children to fell embarrassed (Woods, 2011). In adults organized athletics, adults expect children to perform like adults without considering that children are young and not as strong as adults, this give a lot of pressure to the children. When some parents are watching their children practicing or competing they make a list of mistakes which they would be pointing out on their way home this will frustrated the children.
Some children experience depression and headaches due to too much pressure from parents. Adults’ encouragement may have discouraging effects on young people especially when they encourage participants in non interesting events. When adult organized athletic, they may allow kids to participate. Children premature involvement for sports may result in detrimental emotional consequences to them; limited capacity to develop accurate conceptions of ability result in incompatible achievement and aspirations of goals for the children (Woods, 2011).
During adult organized sports, children are given very high expectations for performance this may likely discourage, frustrate and have low self esteem to the children. Children quickly lose interest in adult-organized sports especially when they have already mastered the skills demanded. Participation in adult-organized sports is one of the leading causes of childhood injury (Woods, 2011). Some parents force their children to specialize in one sport at an early age and treat them as little adults.
Some children are not provide with good nutrition and are not taken to child's physician annually. Some parents are not sure of their child's ability to efficiently take part at a given age this lead the children participating in events which are out of their ability(Woods, 2011). Premature participating of kids in athletics affects development of muscles since muscles begin building at teenage years. Parental dissatisfaction with a children’s skill may cause emotional distress, discouragement and frustration in young children (Woods, 2011).
During adult organized athletics some coaches and parents may show bad behavior and the children have been seeing them as good example. Medical research has shown that early intense training may delay teenage years in girls. Furthermore, studies have suggested that participating in only one sport at an early age may cause more injuries and lead to cessation of that sport at an earlier age. Some adults may force the children to participate in some games which they dislike this can be a recipe for failure (Woods, 2011).
