?Topic:  Does ESP Exist? ESP, otherwise known as extrasensory perception is not an imaginative concept, but a paranormal activity which is real .According to (Caroll,2012) “ESP or extrasensory perception is perception occurring independently of sight, hearing, or other sensory processes”. This is an additional sensation to our five sensory abilities. It is considered paranormal because it does not occur in normal people and it is not visible to the naked eye .Scientist address this as sixth sense and person possessing this sense is called psychic. A psychic thinks that everyone possesses this paranormal phenomenon and others who are normal think it is a talent only special people possess. There are many who are sceptical about the existence of ESP. If people believe it or not, ESP is a reality and its paranormal nature is which putting people in dilemma” Some believe that plants and animals have ESP. In human this sense can be addressed as intuition, clairvoyance or telepathy. The Scientist believes that extra sensory perception is the ability of the mind to communicate with nature and people can acquire this by some effort. It may be a surprising fact, that people can develop their extra sensory ability which is hidden in them. Once the ESP is activated, human gets the ability to communicate with nature on a different plane. It is a fact, not myth that plants and animals possess ESP; this is the reason why they flee for shelter when the earthquake strikes before humans. People may not believe in ESP, although it is a hard truth we need to accept at any cost. The Process of ESP In the process of extra – sensory perception, an individual receives information with the aid of the senses which are not related to the physical body. In the case of ESP the person receives the information with the help of mind. The mind allows the person to acquire information from the planes of the universe, which is not accessible, my people in normal situation. This paranormal activity is studied under parapsychology and scientist studies these phenomena to understand its working procedure and nature. In ESP, people get knowledge which cannot be discerned by the physical senses. This is a paranormal activity beyond the grasp of scientist or parapsychologist. People many times have intuitive behavior as someone is thinking of them or talking to them, this is called paranormal. A psychologist studies the activities of brain and movements of neuron, whereas a parapsychologists study something beyond the physical senses. As per (FBI, 2012) “ESP is considered as a perception of information about events beyond what may be discerned through the five physical senses or deduced from past experience or knowledge”. The ESP can be considered as a boon to humankind by God or divine power. Naturally every person has ESP in them but many a times it is hidden or not utilized or not in the same proportion. At times, people get information on a co-incidental basis and it gets dismissed by person as an ignorant behavior. Sometimes people see a dream and that certain thing will happen in the future period and this process is called ESP. The Types of Paranormal activity This paranormal activity called ESP is observed in the universe in various ways. There are different types of ESP and they can be categorized as follows: telepathy, clairvoyance, intuition and precognition. Looking deep into the matter, one can describe it as follows. a) Telepathy: Telepathy basically means getting feeling from a distance. Mental telepathy is basically reading of the mind. When feelings or thoughts are transferred or received by people without the use of five Physical senses then it is called “Telepathy”. According to (Madeley, 2009)“For many people, Telepathy is just an incredibly complex specification for implementing instant messaging clients”. In telepathy human gets information from their kith and kin without them letting out the information with the network system like contact – contact networking. With this contact – contact networking one person can contact with an individual or many. In telepathy, the two side parties communicate with the effort of the tube system. b) Clairvoyance: Clairvoyance simply means “clearly seeing” and it is a word which is most misconceived and misused than any word. People many a times, think that clairvoyance is a trick of the mind but by a trained mind. It is not easy to give a meaning to this word or phenomenon as its meaning can differ in different situations. In Clairvoyance or Clairaudience, effort is made to gather information about an object, place, person or physical events. A person who has the power of performing clairvoyance is known as “clairvoyant”. 3) Intuition: When one acquires information without the use of reasoning or logic, then it is termed as intuition. Intuition has originated from a Latin word, “intueri” which can be given meaning as “to look into the mind”. Intuition is not a magical phenomenon but is formed out of our previous experience in life. In intuition, one can predict the future events, without anybody assisting them except the mind. Some people are naturally gifted with the talent of foreseeing what is going to happen. As per (Sasson, 2012) “Some people are more naturally psychic from others, and psychic experiences are a more common occurrence with them. Sometimes they just accept the fact that they are a bit different from others in their perceptions”. In simple sense it could be explained as a “gut feeling” where in, an individual sense some things without the assistance of his five physical senses. 4) Precognition : This is a process in which the person has the same feeling as Clairvoyance but the information travel in accordance with time .In this individual gets knowledge in a direct manner about the future .Precognition is the most reported cases of extra sensory perception. Many think ESP is a myth, but unless you feel it, you cannot explain about its power. Moreover, precognition appears mostly in dream to 60 -70% of the population. There are other ways for precognition to induce namely; trance, channeling and divination. Mostly things like the occurrence of Earthquake, airplane crashes and such disasters are prophecies depicted through the precognitive power. Parapsychology a scientific study ESP as thought by many is not a myth, but a hard truth, which many people cannot digest. The main reason for this is that, these people who resist the truth cannot experience it or analyze it like parapsychologists. Otherwise, some people think it is an insane concept and people who receive it are maniacs. This is not the truth, as when one study about the reality of ESP, and then they can understand the origination of the neuron and its travel and ignition in the brain. In order to understand the parapsychology better, Para psychologist have researched much in to the brain. According to (Schmeidler, 2009)“ Parapsychology or psychic research is the scientific study of the ESP and of such cognate topics as psycho kinesis and survival of the personality after bodily death”. There are different methods in the parapsychology research like Field research, Survey research, Laboratory research, Demonstration research and process research. Survey research is where the information is collected from random people or samples. Field research is where different situation or series of events in a particular case is studied. Laboratory research is where a case is studied in a laboratory where cases are deliberately created. Demonstration research is where cases are compared with ordinary cases to analyze the results. Process research is where the outcome of the research is studied. The research outcome depends on the method of research and on the manipulation and measuring of different variables involved in a research. Conclusion ESP is a fact and not a myth, but to prove this fact is not easy as it is intangible. ESP has always been a myth in the eyes of older and to a percentage of contemporary society. To prove that ESP is a reality, the parapsychology is utilized .The parapsychologist use various kinds of research and tools to evaluate and analyze the case and its outcome. The researches listed above and mathematical and analytical tools are used to scrutinize each case, the parapsychology and ESP are at a hypothetical point where people argue at its existence and non – existence. In the book (CIBA,2009) writes that “As far as Esp. is concerned, the sole point at issue is whether such hypothetical defects in standard statistical procedures can be large enough to be relevant”. ESP was the victim of both criticism and appreciation in history; hence the interest people have in it is worth appreciating. A person, who has experienced it, is in awe and those who are skeptical about it are blind about it. There are many extra sensory perceptions which are not accessible to men as we are living in a world not of our own. We are only eligible to those powers, which the almighty want us to experience. Once we really understand the powers hidden in this universe, we can accept that we are exposed to nothing. To understand the Para psychological elements is not easy, as we are not even certain whether we will ever be able to find and expose the real truth behind ESP. Bibliography CIBA Symposium. (2009).
