? Cognitive Psychology Cognitive Psychology Cognitive psychology is one major branch of the general psychologyfield and has had various advancements in its research. Latest studies show that the branch of psychology is rather special as compared to the others in two major different ways. One of the ways that identifies this method of psychology is the fact that it accepts that human beings and creatures in general have various internal senses applied in the day-to-day endeavors of a person. These senses include desire, belief among many other. Cognitive psychology also accepts the fact that psychology is not just a study that involves the witnessing of the behavior of a character but also the fact that there is the use of the scientific methods of investigation. In general, cognitive psychology deals with the in depth investigation of the internal mental processes that a human being carries out (Kellogg, 2007). It is important to understand that it is achievable to develop various programs that may assist in their studies and methods of study using cognitive psychology. In the development of a training program, one of the issues to consider is involvement. There should be the evaluation of the people involved in the program to identify the most efficient method of running the program. The best program to incorporate is one that involves the four major players and contributors in a student’s life. These people are the teachers, the parents, the circle of friends and the student. It is very important to have these people rather than foreigners taking place in the evaluation of the program as the student feels more at ease or rather open to these people and carry out ordinary activities without the feeling of scrutiny. The involvement of the four major aspects creates some form of triangle with the parents, teachers and friends forming the exterior and the student holding the central position inside the triangle. Students have very many problems associated with learning. Some of the problem may be self-induced where the character may carry out activities that may not be appealing for the studying of the person. On the other hand, the student may have difficulties that may arrive naturally from childbirth and continue developing from an infant and throughout the school life. Whichever the reason as to why a student may be performing poorly, it is important to develop a mechanism with which the problem can be solved for the efficiency and future endeavors of the student. The process is rather simple and is not complex for the achievement of the most and easy understanding of the student. It is a process revolving around a triangle. Based on cognitive psychology, one of the major issues that students face while continuing with their syllabus is poor study skills. The poor study skills are often involved with the memory capability of the student. One of the areas greatly affected by memory loss is the working memory. The triangle model stated should assist in this by the student having the problem first taken on by the respective teacher for the problematic subject. The student at the end of every lesson should take it upon himself to go see the teacher and state the several aspects and points that he did not understand. Doing this is very imperative because the teacher should note to reduce her pace while going through the topic again either in revision time or in another lesson. The reduced pace of the teacher should assist the student get a little bit more time to understand the various concepts. Still on the working memory, the parents of the students who make up the second part of the process have an imperative role to play as they assist in the mnemonic method of resolving the problem. The parents should ensure that at home the student has a serine learning environment where during private study, the student can have a silent environment where there is the presence and review of various physical phenomena that may assist the student relate the topic of study to previous studies. Moreover, the silent environment is effective for flashbacks that may co-join the current study and previous study. The last part of the process is the usage of friends who are very effective in the incorporation of the metacognition manner of solving the problem. Friends are involved with the person in a closer manner than even the parents and the teachers. This is because the student trusts them and is free to talk about anything with them. Though metacognition is referred to as a manner of self-control and it is up to the student to carry out the activities in his own manner, friends come in handy in the resolution of this. Through metacognition, the students should hold study groups where students in turns take the role of a teacher and offer some lectures from a book, the student’s aim is to incorporate the classroom scenario and assist the listening students to pay full attention by controlling themselves not to become preoccupied by the various natural occurrences in the area. The short-term memory is another memory solved in terms of problems using the triangular process. Just as for the problem-solving manner used for the working memory, the same process applies here where the teacher is the first factor to observe. This type of memory is very effective in that it is time bound and for time management, a student should be rather swift (Gathercole, 2009). The process involves the student going to the teacher and asking for term papers where he can have some time with the teacher and go through the most effective ways of time management. The aspect involved in this situation is the usage of the mnemonic strategies. In this effect, the teacher is supposed to offer the student with a recap of all the previous studies and teach him how to link the topics to get to the required answer in a timely manner. This expression of this is well in that these strategies assist in that the teacher offers clarification that all topics in the curriculum are linked despite the fact that they may have varying backgrounds. The link between them is well explained by the teacher by the student constantly visiting the teacher in an effort to understand this. The second part of the process is the usage of the parents. Just like in the form of working memory, the parents should attain this by assisting the student with the learning environment. A financial aspect is also very important in that the payment of tuition for the student to hook up with the teacher and the buying of term papers is in order. The parents have the responsibility of ensuring that the short-term memory of the student is in the best condition by having him carry out several duties at home that may require a certain degree of speed and thinking capacity. The combination of speed and high thinking capacity is very important. This works very effectively in ensuring that the memory state of the student is in check. It is important to understand that the concepts learned from the home duties offered incorporated to the classroom scenario during examinations. Metacognition is incorporated in this process using friends. A personal and self-evaluation is very important in that a personal decision matters a lot in the success of the process (Chambers, 2008). It is the last part of the process but the sole decision as to whether it will succeed or not lies on the student. Metacognition in this process is whereby the student takes a personal decision of teaming up with a friend where they can engage each other in self-assessment tests. The carrying out of these tests is in an effort to ensure that the students work on their speed towards finishing examinations and test assignments in time. The tests can be carried out through various manners. This can be using oral questions where one asks the other a question and the student is supposed to answer very fast in an effort to beat the set seconds offered by the other student. However, the best manner to put the process to use is by the incorporation of the examination technique. This is where the students set examinations and give a time limit just like in the examination situation. This is very effective, as it would also reduce the tension found in a student during the real examination. Reduction of the problem is by the fact that the student will have undergone many tests and evaluations on oneself to a point where the real examination will be simple. The other memory problem faced by students is that of long-term memory. As the process goes, the first aspect to consider is the classroom situation through the teacher. The teacher is very effective in the resolution of this problem using the mnemonic strategies. Students should head out and not only speak to the teacher in charge of that subject, but any other teacher that may have assisted in the understanding of the subject from a younger age. This is because the mnemonic strategies require the students to work very effectively in the remembrance of previous and aged long study concepts. These concepts form the building block of further complex concepts in the subject. The student should ask the teacher for the best manner through which to remember the various aspects rather than trying on oneself. The second part of the process is through the involvement of parents. Parents are very influential in this as the achievement of various goals in the developing mind of a young kid. It is important for the parents to bring in any form of memory that they may have regarding the earlier stages of life of the student. The forwarding of this information is very important in that the student has the ability of also remembering these concepts that may be linked with the learning. It is very likely that at a tender age, the student did not have or find the essence of education. However, after a lot of canceling and education, the student finds the essence of education and can store the memories of those simple learning concepts in mind for long. The third part of the triangle process is the involvement of friends. In this case, the friends come in handy in that they offer support both academically and in an ethical manner that supports the students. The ethical process is also very effective as it leads to the best learning outcomes. This is from the fact that friends should help each other to avoid various activities that may make them lose their long-term memory. These immoral activities should be avoided to put the brain in a proper condition to remember concepts for application in both the classroom environment and the outside world. This is where the concept of metacognition comes in as the students decide what is best for their learning strategies. Memory problems in these three ways are the most common identified in most students. Students face this as a problem that affects their study skills in the various ways stated above. The reasons for these memory problems may be from one self or just occur naturally, however, the various training methods of dealing with the issue such as metacognition and mnemonic strategies are bound to resolve this.
