Response to Essay In the view point of the depression is the cause of unhappiness and once a person is struck with unhappiness, the phenomenon followers the sufferer everywhere. Indeed, this is a valid point to make as unhappiness is one of the most outstanding symptoms of depression (Gledhill and Hodes, 2011). The writer also associates depression to adolescence. Clearly, adolescents are prone to depression because of the psychological changes they go through. Most of these psychological changes make adolescents want to live outstanding lifestyle and the result of this effort is depression.

If the efforts fail to yield results also, the adolescent is bound to be depressed due to the failure. It is in light of this that the writer assumes the stand that depression cannot be avoided but only minimized. There are empirical proofs to the facts underlining depression and this is shown clearly in the articles reviewed by the writer where experiments from two different parts of the world gave the same results. On the results were the involvement of parents in trying to give therapy to adolescents with depression, Hobbs (2003) explains that it is an important step in fighting depression among adolescents.

The reason is that the presence of parents in the fight against depression by adolescents is a very strong indication that the adolescents have a support towards their fight against depression and that the step they have taken is the right approach. With such knowledge by the adolescents, they appreciate the need to involve themselves fully in the therapy, leading to higher chances of getting recovery from depression. Again, the presence of a third party such as a parent serves as guide to the adolescent whereby in cases where the adolescent may be meandering off the path of the therapy, the parent or the third party can remind the adolescent to be back on track.

All in all, the kind of therapy used is very important; example cognitive behavioral therapy but the most important factor perhaps is for the adolescent receiving the therapy to have a support from a third party.
